Hi I'm Jesse

I am a single father of 4 beautiful kids. I am a teacher. I love sports. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 31 years old. I am a single father. I have a 8 year old son and three girls ages 7, 6, and 4. They keep me on my toes! I love spending time with them. I love to be active. I love to play basketball and ride on my bike with my three younger brothers. Although my life has turned out quite differently than what I expected, I believe I am a better person for it. I know our Heavenly Father has a plan for us all. I know that we aren't doing this alone!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the faith. But I do have the unique perspective of having a long history of the LDS on one side of my family, and first-time members on the other side of my family. My dad joined the church at the age of 19. He has a brother who is also a member, and a sister and parents who have not joined the church. My mom's ancestry goes back to the beginnings of the church. Though I was taught about the church and its doctrines throughout my life, I do not live the standards based on others' beliefs. I gained a personal testimony of the teachings of Christ's gospel, had an opportunity to share it with others when I served a mission, and now have 4 kids that I continue to share my testimony with. I love being a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day, in small ways. I try to conduct myself in a way that represents the kind of person I strive to be. I try to be kind to others. I try not to speak ill of others. I make an effort to find the good in others, because everyone is a son or daughter of our Heavenly Father. I have had different responsibilities in my church, from teaching children, to teaching adolescents, to teaching adults. There is a lot of teaching going on at every age!

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

The temple is the most sacred of our church buildings, and is recognized as a House of the Lord. Because of this, there are certain standards that must be met. Only worthy members of the church can enter the temple walls. This does not mean that those who attend are perfect in any way, but they are striving every day to become better. I think too many times people confuse sacred with secret. Nothing secret occurs in the temple. Sacred ordinances and covenants are made in the temple. Because we regard these covenants or promises as sacred, we do not talk about them openly. In the temple we perform sacred ordinances for our deceased ancestors. We also perform these ordinances for ourselves. We make promises to our Heavenly Father to keep His commandments. The most important ordinance is the sealing ordinance. Families are sealed together forever, not just until death do you part! This gives me so much joy to know my children are sealed to me. Show more Show less

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

They answer is quite simply, NO. No political party or candidate is endorsed by the church. We, as members, are encouraged to search the issues and where the candidates stand on those issues, and to make a decision based on our own political beliefs. The Church will take a stand on moral issues that enter the political arena. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No, we do not! But we do regard him as a prophet, seer, and revelator. We do believe the true church of Jesus Christ was restored through him. I don't worship Joseph Smith, but I believe he was one of the greatest men to ever live. Show more Show less
