Hi I'm Leigh Ann

I grew up in Utah and California. I've been married 32 years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a wonderful husband and four beloved sons, three lovely daughter's in law and three adorable grandchildren. My family life keeps me very busy and is something I give thanks for each day. I enjoy making my home a pleasant place to be. I love to play the flute and the piano and singing in choir. I earned a degree in vocal and instrumental music and I enjoy teaching privately in my home studio. I am very fond of nature and devote my spare time to the cultivation of flowers, herbs and vegetables growing in my small gardens.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents, for the most part, did not attend church when I was a child. My mother would go sometimes and I can remember my father going only once. However, the chapel was just across the street from our home so it was easy for me to go to church. Our family had many trials and struggles but I loved going to primary and singing songs of the Gospel with the other children. I can remember one day as I sat singing a beautiful song about the Savior tears welling up in my eyes. I didn't know why I was crying. I later came to understand that this was the Holy Ghost teaching my young heart that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true and that Heavenly Father and his Son, Jesus Christ, love me. I needed to know that. As I got a bit older and reached the age of about ten years it wasn't so easy to go to church. I was lonely not having a family to sit with like all the others. Although my older brother was there, he was busy fulfilling his responsibilities and he couldn't sit with me. I began to feel out of place and I stopped attending. A few weeks went by when a friend asked me why I hadn't been there. I told her it was because I had no family to sit with. She then did something so simple and yet so great. She invited me to sit with her family. Once again, I felt the tender mercy of the Lord and I returned to church. I know that Heavenly Father was watching over me then. Through my life I have studied and pondered and prayed. And just as it was when I was a child the Holy Ghost has taught and touched my heart to know of the truth of the Gospel. I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is here for us in it's fullness. I know there is a proper authority to act in his name and the ordinances of the Gospel are here for all who have a desire to receive them and will prepare to do so. By the gentle teachings of Holy Ghost I know that the Book of Mormon and The Bible are holy scriptures and contain the truth of the Gospel. They testify of Jesus Christ and his atonement. Through daily study of the scriptures I have gained an understanding of the neccessity of the atonement of our Lord. I have felt it's affect as I have sought peace, forgiveness and direction. I know the Savior gave his life for all mankind because of His great love. I know His Gospel is a Gospel of love I know that Joseph Smith was a man full of faith. I know he sought for truth through study and prayer and was answered with a latter day Miracle. I know he accomplished a great work in restoring to the earth, in fullness, the Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ. I know that he did not call himself to this work but he was called of the Lord and through faith and obedience he was able to accomplish all things. I know that Thomas S Monson is a Prophet of the Lord Jesus Christ at this time and as his Prophet he speaks not only to members of the church but to the whole world. He teaches us to love and care for others. That is what the Savior teaches.

How I live my faith

Living on a busy street provides many opportunities to greet passers by. It is true that most people are good natured and very friendly. Many times I see others who are so willing to help strangers. This brings a good feeling into my heart and is a strength in our community. I love having so many from the community come to my home for music lessons and I love playing the piano for the children at church as they sing the songs of the Gospel. Music is a powerful teacher and It carries a message of faith in Jesus Christ, love and kindness for others, respect for family and honest living right into their hearts. It is a message that will last a lifetime for these little ones. In daily living I have devoted time for scripture study and prayer. Each day I give thanks for the blessing of the scriptures the Holy Bible and The Book of Mormon. Theses are true sources of light and partaking of them each day provides a great shield in facing life's battles. I also give thanks for the blessing of family and seek direction in ways to serve each member of my family, friends and community.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Leigh Ann
When the Missionaries come into your home they will begin with the basic principals of the Gospel. Their message will contain words of Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. They will share thoughts about faith repentance and baptism. They will explain the need for a Savior and why the atonement of Jesus Christ and his resurrection are central to our religion. They will talk about the proper authority to act in Jesus Christ's name. And always they will have a message of love, hope and peace.  Show more Show less
