Hi I'm JP

I’m a husband, a father, a student, and a mormon.

About Me

I’m currently pursuing a college degree in Business and Technology Management. I enjoy playing basketball, editing video, and studying the gospel. My wife and I have a little boy and another one on the way. I also served as a full time missionary in the Mexico Tuxtla Gutierrez Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a member of the church by loving parents who taught the gospel in our home. I was encouraged to study the gospel and find out the truthfulness of the gospel for myself. I have enjoyed several confirming answers to honest prayers through the Holy Ghost. To this day, I continue to feel the Holy Ghost testify of the Book of Mormon as I read it. I love to study the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is exciting to learn about and inexhaustible in depth. I am taking a class that discusses the various religions of the world. I find it fascinating to learn about the belief systems of other people. I believe that gospel truths can be found today in almost any set of religious beliefs; however, many precious and important truths have been lost from the various religions of the world. There are so many good people in the world that live the best they can based on the truths they have received. I am a Mormon, because I believe the fullness of the gospel has been restored on the earth once again. Those precious truths that were once lost have been restored by God through prophets.

How I live my faith

I have the privilege to attend the temple with my wife on a regular basis. Attending the temple brings peace and hope into my life and helps me better understand God’s plan for me. The temple helps frame the challenges of daily life with an enhanced perspective. I also have family home evening each Monday night where we discuss principles of the gospel and how they apply to our family today. I always look forward to General Conference when we have the opportunity to hear the prophets speak. I download the talks and enjoy listening to them in my car on my way to work and school.

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

As a new parent, I have been able to reflect on the miracle of life. To me the creation of a human body is a testimony of our Creator. Being a parent helps me to understand the love that our Heavenly Father has for us. The scriptures teach that we are His children, created in His likeness and image. I know God lives and that He is involved in the details of my life. I have felt His comforting love in times of need. I have full confidence that he is listening to me when I pray to him. He answers my prayers. I know that He cares about me, and that He wants me to follow Him. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about family?

We believe that families are ordained of God and that the family is central to His eternal plan. In family settings we learn fundamental values and principles which bring happiness into our lives, and in turn maintain and improve the society we live in. Family relationships will continue beyond this life and into the next. I believe the blessings we experience in the family unit are intended to last forever. Show more Show less
