Hi I'm Tawnya

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay at home Mom. I love being able to do that. I have six children, five of them are boys. All the boys love to play tennis. I spend a lot of hours on the tennis courts watching them play. I can't think of anything I'd rather be doing then being with my family. Some people think I am crazy because of all the time that I spend with them. But I think it is important to be involved in the lives of your children. Having a family takes time, a lot of it. I went to school and graduated with a Math Education degree. I taught Jr. High school while my husband went to graduate school. It was a great experience. Now I love to volunteer in the schools where my children attend. I love singing, playing the piano, reading, and cooking. I was a dancer in college and I still love to watch dance. My next goal is to learn to play tennis myself so that I can play with my boys.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I love the gospel. I know Christ lives and leads this Church. I am thankful everyday for good parents who taught me right from wrong.

How I live my faith

In the church, I have been called to work with the children. I help them learn the gospel by teaching them the principles that will help them live happy lives and eventually return to their Father in Heaven. We spend time each week learning about things like honesty, moral courage, and baptism. It is a blessing to be able to work with Heavenly Father's children. As their testimonies of the gospel grow, my testimony is strengthened. I also have the opportunity to visit a few of the sister's in our congregation. We spend time sharing testimonies with each other and strengthening one another. Sometimes we are called on to help those we visit. I love being able to help when others are in need.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

All through the history of the world, God has appointed prophets like Daniel, Noah, and Moses to teach and lead his people. It is the same today. Because Heavenly Father loves us, he sends living prophets to guide and direct us. Joseph Smith was the first prophet of our time. I believe that Thomas S. Monson is the prophet chosen by God to lead and direct His church today. I believe that following the prophet will help us to be happier people and have more peace in our lives. Choosing to follow the prophet helps keep our family safe from the evils of this world. I invite you to listen to the words of the living prophet and to consider following his counsel. What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Our main worship service is called Sacrament Meeting. This meeting is held on Sunday in chapels around the world. This meeting lasts about 70 minutes. We attend this meeting as a family. All people are invited to attend this meeting including children. During this meeting we sing hymns, partake of the sacrament, and listen to speakers. After Sacrament meeting, we attend other Sunday meetings. Visitors are welcome to attend these meetings as well. We have Sunday School classes for youth and adults age 12 and up. For the children aged 3-11, we have primary meetings. A nursery is available for little children ages 18 months to 3 years. I love attending Sunday meetings. I feel the Spirit of the Lord when I attend and I learn about Heavenly Father and His love for His children. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

The way to know if this church is true is to read the Book of Mormon and then PRAY to know. The Lord promises that those that ask sincerely, with all their heart, will know the truth. Show more Show less
