Hi I'm Carrie

And I am a Mormon.

About Me

Once in a while it dawns on me in such a profound way, and I am so amazed, that out of all the people on the planet I have found one person to go through this life with. My true love, my best friend, my confidant whom for the past 31 almost 32 years has comforted me, supported me, loved me and given me the family I have always wanted and dreamed of. As I ponder upon this miracle I realize; that this is God's plan for us: to go through this life as family and friends to serve and strengthen each other, our communities, and society. I can't imagine life without them, this is ME, this is who I am and who I ever hope to be. I love my family, they are my best friends in the whole world. They have taught me more than I ever could have learned in any other circumstance. Although, after 29 years of marriage and motherhood I decided to return to the workforce and to college to finish my degree, they are, have been, and always will be, my #1 career choice!

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born into a family where this was the practiced religion, as with anyone else looking for truth I have had to find out for myself and be converted to the truthfulness of this Church and gospel. There was a time when I did not want to believe it was true, it had too many restrictions. But through some very special leaders of youth in my teens, who showed great love and patience, I came to believe that I was loved and of worth to my Father in Heaven and that Jesus Christ loved even me. So much so that he suffered and died in my behalf. I learned that I could repent and as I did I came to understand the freedom, peace and joy that comes from living the commandments of God. Because of His Holy Spirit I was enlightened and came to understand that this is who I am and where I belonged. How thankful I am that those leaders took an interest in me -- they have made all the difference in my life. Being committed to this church and gospel for the past 37 years has given me the strength to get through the calamities and hard ships that life can throw us. It has also been instrumental in every joy and blessing that has come to me in this life. I can't see that the world has anything better to offer since making that commitment all those years ago, and that is why I am a Mormon!

How I live my faith

Our faith is a way of living every day! No days off! There is no separation between our religion and our everyday life--it is our life! We worship formally on Sundays and we worship in our home where we read the scriptures , sing hymns, pray together and serve others as a family and individually on a daily basis. We encourage those we teach and our children to pray and to find out for themselves if what we teach them is true. We also believe that it is by our example that they will know if what we are teaching them is true or not. If we are teaching one thing and acting contrary to those teachings, we believe they would be confused.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Oh my goodness, where do I begin? What a miracle it has been to be able to open the scriptures for myself, especially in times of need, and find knowledge, wisdom and answers to everyday questions and problems! For me it has always been after praying and then searching the scriptures that, those answers have come. What a thrill and delight it is to learn for yourself the things of God, and not to depend on someone else to tell you or teach you what is contained in them. Every time I open the scriptures to study and learn, when the Holy Ghost is present, it is like opening the most magnificent gift and finding the greatest treasure I could ever receive! I love the scriptures and when I go without them for a few days my life gets almost unbearable. What joyfulness, peace and harmony they have brought in this world of chaos and confusion.
