Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I have read the Book of Mormon and I know that it is the sacred writings of an ancient people that is for our day. I know that Joseph Smith Jr. was a prophet of God and that he re-established his Church in these Latter-days. When I first heard the story of the beginning of the Church from the missionaries and when I read the Book of Mormon, I knew it all to be true. Therefore, I joined. Since then, it has been remarkable and I have seen so much more to confirm that testimony.

How I live my faith

One of my favorite things to do is meet with other members of our faith and get together to help others. Recently, we have done some great work with the Habitat for Humanity in our area. In addition, I love spending time with my wife and children and helping our kids know the gospel and sharing my testimony with them.

What is being a Mormon like?

Brian
I love being a Mormon! I joined the Church about 12 years ago, and since that time have gone on a mission for the Church (Kenya and Uganda), met my wife, served in the Temple and have had various other callings. To me, it means I can be rooted in a faith that gives me friends and values, but also be available to learn about other faiths and people. Being rooted in my faith helps me learn of others but not follow "whims" of others. In the storm of life, it provides me a constant I can hold on to. One of my favorite things about being a member is having the Priesthood. It is like a brotherhood of men who lookout and care for each other. It was an honor a few years ago to be called as the Elders Quorum President and to be able to lead brethren in their callings of the Church. Thru my ordination, I have made life time friends on multiple continents and have felt true brotherhood amongst others who share in my calling. Show more Show less
