Hi I'm Lance

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in California, raised in the Midwestern United States, and have returned to California to work and raise my own family. I am a husband and father of two young children. Most of my time is spent parenting my children and in my law practice. My other interests include reading, exercising, physics, technology, board games, and sports. I enjoy taking road trips and visiting new places.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are longtime church members who taught me from an early age about Jesus Christ and His gospel. When I was a young teenager, a teacher challenged me to read the scriptures every night and record my impressions in a journal. I accepted the challenge because I wanted to learn for myself what was true and right. I also wanted to find out what lessons I could learn from the ancient writings that are recorded in the scriptures. One night I read a passage from the Book of Mormon that explained how an ancient prophet had tirelessly declared the word of God, had not feared the people he taught, and had sought God's will and to keep His commandments. The prophet was blessed that he would be mighty in word and in deed, in faith and in works. The voice of the Lord told the prophet that he would not ask for anything contrary to the will of God. When I read this passage, a clear impression came to my mind that it was important for me to seek the will of God in my life. I was convinced that the words I had read were good and true. As I continued to study the Holy Bible and the Book of Mormon, I found that the words had power to improve my life, and following the commandments written in the scriptures brought meaning and happiness to me. Study of the scriptures has blessed my life on countless occasions and filled my mind and heart with peace. Because I am convinced that the Book of Mormon, together with the Bible, teach timeless truths that have been handed down through countless generations, I have concluded that these scriptures have been brought forth by the gift and power of God. This is one of the primary reasons why I've chosen to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

I help plan worship services for the congregation where I attend. My role includes selecting speakers and assigning speaking topics. I occasionally teach adults, youth, and children. I regularly visit the homes of a couple families from my congregation and seek to ensure that their needs are being met. Church service has been an immense blessing to me because it provides a break from pursuits that benefit myself and opportunities to focus on others. When I seek to apply gospel principles to my family, civic, and professional life, my natural tendency to seek my self-interest is replaced with a desire to see others succeed and thrive. My selfish thoughts melt away, and I am able to find comfort and joy in the successes of others.
