Hi I'm Jerrod

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 10 years, and have 4 kids! I am the Student Records Manager at a university in the state of Idaho. I enjoy running, reading, watching movies, and well... some would classify me as a "Star Trekkie." (That's debatable.)

Why I am a Mormon

I was an average kid, raised in western Washington just south of Seattle. I was involved in sports, student government, speech and debate, etc. I had attended my local Lutheran church my whole young adult life. In fact, I was the only member of my split family who attended church regularly. I always knew there was a God and knew I should respect him in some way so I went to church. My junior year in high school I was a fairly popular kid. I could have gone either way--the wrong crowd or the right crowd. I began hanging out with some Mormons and one in particular... she was cute! Naturally she exposed me to her faith and I began to feel a pull towards her religion. Although some said that it was not a good thing, there was something about this girl and her tight knit family that was refreshing, grounding, and missing from my life. I began attending the LDS (Mormon) church Sunday afternoons while continuing my attendance at my Lutheran church Sunday mornings. There was something about the LDS church that offered clarity and something more than I had experienced any where else. It seemed as though I was respecting God even more. After some time, I made the decision to be baptized into the LDS faith. Although my conversion was awkward and difficult to describe to those watching the changes in my life, I have never regreted my decision to be baptized. Here it is 15 years later and I am married to a wonderful and faithful LDS woman and we have 4 beautiful children! We attend church regularly, have family scripture study and prayer and even designate one night as a family night. Life has more meaning. I feel like God is proud of my efforts to include him in my life and live my life according to his will. I feel like I have more integrity as a person and that I am living a good Christian life. I feel like the LDS church has helped me to understand God and his son Jesus Christ and has helped me to love and appreciate my spouse and raise my children well.

How I live my faith

Our family attends church regularly (most every Sunday) and we try to have family prayer and scripture study for at least a few minutes every day. It keeps us rooted in faith and helps us live good Christian lives!
