Hi I'm Ricky

I'm a Filipino and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I was converted to the Church in 1999. I served in the Philippines Bacolod Mission from March 2003-2005. I was married in the Manila Temple last April 28, 2010 to Emerald (also a returned missionary). I'm currently working as a Planning Analyst (Physical Facilities Department) for the Area Office.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a very religious family and was educated in a secular school as well. But I attribute my first knowledge about God and faith through my mother who had taught me how to pray at an early age. When I was still in college, I had a desire to serve God but I do not know how. I was contemplating of entering a seminary to become a priest. A week after that strong desire, the full-time missionaries met my mother and they visited our home. I felt good about their teaching and eventually had my own testimony through prayer. It only took me a month to go through all the discussions and was baptized in August 1999. It has been one of the greatest event of my life. After graduation, I had a desire to serve a mission. I knew this was the answer to my prayer to serve God. Seeing the lives of people change through the Gospel is a very rewarding experience.

How I live my faith

I had served and continually serving in various callings in the Church since I got baptized. I was called and set-apart as the Executive Secretary of Elder Julio Gaviola (Area Seventy). Prior to that, I was also the Executive Secretary of Pasig Stake. I also served as the Mission Leader before and after my full time mission.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Ricky
When Adam fell because of his transgression, physical death and sin came into the world. It is therefore impossible to return to our Heavenly Father. We need a savior to overcome these obstacles to be with God again. Jesus Christ submitted Himself to the will of the Father during the Council in Heaven. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we can all be resurrected like Him and through His Atonement we can be forgiven from our sins if we will have faith in Him, repent, be baptized and obey His commandments.
