Hi I'm Jaimie

I was born in New York, grew up in Florida, and now I live in Utah! I'm a preschool teacher that loves to travel. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in New York, but grew up in Florida. Which makes me a mass of contradictions really. I love the seasons of the northeast, but cherish the consistent sunshine of the south. I am energized by the fast-paced energy of New York, but comforted by laid-back lifestyle of Florida. I just need to find a place with the best of both worlds! I graduated college two years ago with my Bachelors in Communication Sciences and Disorders- Speech Pathology. A lot of words for "teaching little kids how to talk." I love communication and love even more helping people learn to communicate. I am currently working as a preschool teacher and attending BYU to obtain my teaching credential to teach elementary school. I love children and am blessed to have amazing ones in my class. Work is fun for me, and I'm not sure many people can say that. There is something so uniquely special about working with children. Their view of the world is something that continually amazes me and reminds me why we are commanded to "be as a child". I love being outside- four-wheeling, camping, basically anything where I can just enjoy nature. I love country-swing dancing and theme parks. I'm a totally addicted to roller-coasters. I love cooking and baking and get a special thrill from cooking big dinners for my friends and family. I also love scaring roommates. It's pretty much my favorite thing to do!

Why I am a Mormon

Although I had been raised in the Catholic Church, I did not know what exactly the church believed. As my desire to belong to a church increased, I learned more about Catholicism, and realized that it was not in line with what I already knew to be true. I began my search for a church whose doctrine was inline with what I knew to be true. My friend Meghan knew of my search, and asked if she could send me a few things on her church. I knew Meghan was Mormon, and, having been to church with her a few times, knew that Mormons were great people. I told her I would love for her to send me information on her church. Meghan sent me a Book of Mormon, with her hand-written testimony on the front pages. I began researching the LDS church, and specifically the doctrine. My research of the LDS church sparked many questions. Meghan patiently answered question after question, until one day, she suggested that I read the Book of Mormon. I began reading it and the more I read, the more happiness and joy filled my heart. I couldn't get enough! It was like something deep inside me was finally "waking up" and all around me, I felt my view of the world changing. The missionaries began teaching me, and I began praying to my Heavenly Father, for courage to act on what I knew was true. I was soon baptized and confirmed. I can't describe the feelings as I stepped out of the water into my new life in the church. The only thing I can say is that it was the absolute best day of my life!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by praying and reading my scriptures daily, by trying to follow the example of my Savior, Jesus Christ. The times I feel my faith the strongest are the times that I am in the service of other people. I love to help people and to be used as a tool in Heavenly Father's hands. I live my faith by trying to always remain hopeful and optimistic, and to be a light to those around me. I trust in my Lord and because of that trust, I've learned to have more confidence in myself, and others.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

How do we come to know anyone? We communicate with them. We include them in our daily lives. Praying to our Father in Heaven, reading the scriptures, and inviting Him into our lives is the best way to build a beautiful relationship with our Heavenly Father. We also build our relationship with our Heavenly Father by trusting Him and proving to Him that we are trustworthy. As we keep the commandments, we can feel His presence more fully in our lives. Trust in Him enough to keep the commandments. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

One of the doctrinal concerns I had when searching for the true church was a need for a prophet. I just could not understand that if Heavenly Father always spoke and guided His children through a prophet, why would He stop? Why would He not speak to His children anymore? Knowing how much Heavenly Father loves His children, helped me to understand that He could never abandon us. He yearns to guide us, when we will heed his word. He speaks to us through the prophets. How great is the knowledge that there is a living prophet on this Earth, right now! I not only believe that there is a prophet alive today, I know it. His name is Thomas S. Monson, and he is a prophet of God! Show more Show less
