Hi I'm Katie Detherage

I am a college student, a wife, a Disneyland enthusiast, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for two years now to my dear husband Brian. We live in Orem Utah where we are working and going to school. I enjoy hiking, going to the temple, photography, babysitting, exercise and dancing when no one is looking. I look forward to raising children someday and watching Brian take on the role of Father. The church is the center of my life. Everything I have been blessed with is from the tender mercy of God.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born &raised in the mormon faith. For that, I will forever be grateful to my wonderful parents. I remember my youth, always attending church & serving in the youth program. What a tender time for my testimony to grow. Upon my single adult years, I made the decision to continue to follow the gospel of Jesus Christ. I believe our church to be led by a living prophet of our time, that receives revelation from God the Father. I know that the covenants Brian and I made in the temple, have sealed us for time and all eternity. My faith in this gospel has steered me down a path that has only led me to happiness. I bear testimony that this church is true, and that you can come to know of its truthfulness with the same surety as I do, if you but ask.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through little hurdles each day. Time management is a huge factor in my life. Both my husband and I are full time students, working and trying to juggle our schedules. I pray everyday for help to accomplish my goals. Sometimes I let myself feel overwhelmed; when I don't check everything off of my to-do list I feel as if I have failed. But that still small voice reminds me that I did my best and that I can try again tomorrow. It is easy to give in to feelings of doubt, despair, and worthlessness. But when we turn to the Lord he can wrap his arms around us and give us courage to try again tomorrow. I live my faith by trying again the next day to improve. I know I am not perfect, but I can stay hopeful that I can be like Christ in some way.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Katie Detherage
A testimony is a spiritual witness given by he Holy Ghost. The foundation of a testimony is the knowledge that Heavenly Father lives and loves us; that Jesus Christ lives, that He is the Son of God. The quest for a testimony begins with a righteous, sincere desire. Testimony comes throught the quiet influence of the Holy Ghost. The results of a testimony can be life changing. No one receives a complete testimony all at once. Your testimony will grow stronger through your experiences. It will expand as you make decisions to keep the commandments. Show more Show less

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Katie Detherage
The first commandment God gave to Adam & Eve pertained to their potential for parenthood as husband and wife. God commanded his children to multiply and replenish the earth. Husband and Wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for their children. By divine design, Fathers are to preside over the families in love and righteousness, and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families. Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children. In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners. I am a wife, but not yet a mother; and I love my responsibilities. As I work beside my husband we grow closer together each day. He is my sweetheart, my rock, my shoulder to cry on, he is my everything. Show more Show less
