Hi I'm Matt

I'm a Mormon

About Me

I currently live in England, in Melbourne, Derbyshire. I am happily married, in the Temple for eternity, to my Wife Rowena and we have 3 wonderful Children! I have worked in many varying capacities. My very first job was as a cardboard box maker. I am now a Team Manager of a large Contact Centre for on of the UK's largest pharmacy based companies. I was born into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as my parents were both converts to the church in the 1960's, i was baptised at the age of 8. I received the Aaronic Priesthood when i was 12 and continued to attend church until i became 16, where i stopped attending church to 'explore' what the world had to offer. I spent in total about 10 years away from anything church related until i started to think of those universal questions: What is the purpose of life? Is there any reason for being on this earth? Why do my extended family go to church? Is there really a God? Does he care about us? All of these questions and so many more were answered as i investigated the Church, plus as i practiced daily prayer and scripture study my eyes were opened to the answers i was looking for. I can now say that God, our Heavenly Father really does care for all of his earthly children, and that Jesus Christ really is our Saviour and that through Joseph Smith the Church that Jesus Christ established on the earth has been restored, in it's fulness, with the happiness of individuals and families at the heart of the Church.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it bring real purpose and meaning to life. I testify to all that read this that i know Jesus Christ lives! Just as he did anciently. That he was resurrected and over came death, that through Him all may live on after death, that the sting of death will only be but a moment in our life time. I also testify that we have living Prophets and Apostles on the earth once again, just like the Prophets and Apostles who were on the earth anciently with Jesus, when he was on the earth. As we follow their words, our individual lives, and the lives of those around us will be all the more happier. One other reason why i am a Mormon is because of the work that is done in Temples. These holy houses have the restored blessing of sealing families for eternity. The old phrase 'til death do we part' is no more. As the scripture in Malachi chapter 4 says: "Behold, I will asend you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord: And he shall aturn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse."

How I live my faith

First and foremost i try to treat my Wife as a princess, as she is the most wonderful and beautiful Woman i know of, and i love to bits! The day i was married to her in the temple for time and all eternity was/is the happiest moment of my life. Knowing i will be with her forever is all my dreams come true. After my Wife our children get the rest of my focus as we daily read the scriptures together and say our prayer. We also play lots of games together, some on the Wii, some board games, we read books together, we sometimes go on walks, all in all family time is what's important to me and what makes me happy. Outside of the family i live my faith through serving others, through missionary work, this might mean going out teaching the message of the gospel with full time missionaries. I also try to be as charitable, am i perfect in doing this? Probably not, but i try to follow the loving, kind, wise example of the Saviour, that can be found in the scriptures. As I follow His example, i am better able to be spiritually inclined to foster love between other people i come into contact with, that is what i love about being a Mormon and what i love about what we are taught to be like: The Saviour, who is full of grace and truth, and to become as a child, to be meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father.

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is not the title of the book. It is intact The Book Of Mormon; Another Testament Of Jesus Christ. The Book Of Mormon does not super-seed The Bible; it is a companion to it of which i study both. As it says in it's title, the book is a further witness of Jesus Christ. The book testifies of the reality of the Saviour performing miracles, healing the sick, providing service to all of our Heavenly Fathers children here on earth. The Book of Mormon also tells of the reality of the ressurection of Jesus Christ and that he alone loosed the bands of death so no one will permanently die, but that all will live forever and all of Heavenly Fathers children can choose salvation. What a free gift! The Book of Mormon also talks about the restoration of the Gospel through a Prophet before the Saviour comes to the earth one last time. The restoration was a result of the Apostasy as related in the Bible, when the acient apostles all died after Jesus was taken from the earth Furthermore in the Book Of Mormon it tells of ancient Prophets including Alma, Nephi, Lehi, Moroni, and more that testify of the coming of the Saviour and many other things do they fortell including those that are wicked or do not follow the commandments of Heavenly Father. It also testify's of the realitiy of the blessings instore for those that are true and faithful to the commandments of Heavenly Father. Show more Show less

Why is family so important to Mormons?

The family is the unit in which we can build relationships with our children and show love to our Wives and Children, furthermore we can show respect, honour, kindness, acts of service, perform skills, receive an education. We can learn in the home to build a fountain of knowledge both spiritual and temporal. This knowledge will be one that will help us in our future families. We can also learn to love one another in the home. We learn to respect our family members through being curtious and obedient to our parents. Church members are encouraged to hold a Family Home Evening, each monday night, if possible. This FHE should consist of Church songs, a spiritaul message, an opening and closing prayer, plus some fun. This programme enables the family within each home to spend some time together, plus much more... Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Yes we are indeed. The name of the Church i am a member of is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. Jesus Christ is my saviour and redeemer, not the Prophet Joesph Smith, although i do reveer Joesph Smith as a Prophet of the Restoration of the Church in these the Latter Days. Show more Show less
