Hi I'm Mark

I'm a musician, an aspiring recording engineer, and a huge sports fan. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love music. I play the cello, guitar, piano, and ukelele. I'm always looking to learn how to play new instruments, and I sing. I also like to write songs. I mostly play and write an acoustic rock style, but I also listen to folk, country, jazz, and broadway. I'm going to college and studying music and want to work in a recording studio. I also love sports, mostly basketball, football, and baseball. I love to watch games, and if someone tells me that they're going to play basketball, I'm there. I learned spanish and love talking with anyone who will speak spanish with me.

Why I am a Mormon

I've seen so many blessings in my life from following Jesus Christ. I'm happier when I follow His commandments and try to do what He would do. I go to this Church over others because I believe that this is the same church that Christ himself set up when He walked the earth, but brought back today. That means that it has all the correct teachings and the same power He had. The Holy Spirit has spoken to me many times through the feelings I feel in my heart that this is true. I feel joy and love as I come to this church and tell others about it. I can't deny what I've felt. I know that Christ is our Savior, and that He is leading this Church today. I can't imagine where I'd be without it, because I know how much it helps me every day. I know who I am-a literal son of God; I know why I'm here on earth-to follow Christ and prepare to return to live with God forever; I know what I have to do to be happy and have direction-pray, read the scriptures, attend Christ's church, follow His commandments. I know that true happiness comes from knowing the truth and following Christ's true gospel!

How I live my faith

One of my responsibilities in our local congregation right now is to teach a Sunday School class. We are currently learning about the New Testament, and every other week I teach about several chapters and principles you find there.

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Authority is basically permission to do something. A police officer has authority to give us traffic tickets and an ice cream man doesn't. In the same way, not everyone has authority to baptize. Only certain people have authority or permission from God to baptize. That's why Christ walked three days to have John the Baptist baptize Him and not anyone else. John the Baptist had the authority. Christ gave that authority to His apostles, by the laying on of hands. Without authority or permission from Christ, baptism is really just getting wet. With authority, baptism cleanses us of our sins. You cannot receive authority from buying it, going to school, or just saying that you have it. Christ must lay His hands on your head and give it to you. Someone that already has that authority from Christ may lay his hands on your head give it to you as well. There are people on the earth today that have the authority to baptize from Christ. They are found in this Church. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Many people believe that the Bible is all we need to return to live with God. I love the Bible, and try to read it regularly. It gives us the first-hand account of Christ and his life, as well as great stories of the ancient prophets. However, the Bible is incomplete. Many different people can interpret the same scriptures in different ways. It gets really confusing when you try to figure out what's right and what's wrong about the gospel of Christ and what the Bible is really teaching. That's why God gave us the Book of Mormon as well. The prophets in Jerusalem wrote the word that God gave them. At the same time there were people living in the ancient Americas. God called prophets among them as well, and they wrote down the word that God gave them. What the prophets in Jerusalem wrote is the Bible. What the prophets in America wrote is the Book of Mormon. So, we have two books that both teach us the gospel of Christ and help us to compare and know what the true gospel of Christ is. I love to read the Book of Mormon, and know that it is the word of God. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

For sure! That's why the official name of the church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon is just a nickname). A Christian is someone who believes in Christ. We definitely believe in Christ. He is the Savior of the World. He died for us. Because He died for us, we will all live again and can have true happiness in this life! I love Jesus Christ and I know that He loves me! Show more Show less
