Hi I'm Jackie Lynn

About Me

I am a mother of 2 adult children and between my husband and I we have 13 grandchildren. I am currently taking classes to become a Personal Fitness Trainer. My hobbies include all kinds of crafts, including oil painting which I took up about 3 years ago. My husband is in a wheel chair full time and so we have a very active life, he alwayse says he isn't handicapped, he just has to re-learn how to do what he wants. He alwayse seems to find a way to succeed.

Why I am a Mormon

I was searching for a Church every since I can remember. I tried several denominations, but they all seemed to be missing something or didn't have all the answers I needed. I went through a terrible divorce and met my Martial Arts Teacher and his wife. They had such peace in their lives I was curious about how they achieved such peace. I found out that they were Mormon and that is why they lived such a giving and loving life. Soon after that, my teenage daughter came to me and wanted to know if she could have the Missionary Lessons, I told her that I thought that was a great idea and I wanted to also. My son was at my away on vacation so we called to tell him what we were going to do. Unknownst to me, he had been talking to a person at his school about the Church and wanted to have the lessons also. The3 of us were baptised on my son's birthday. I have never had such peace and joy in my life as since I turned my life over to Heavenly Father. The daily struggles don't seem as hard when you know with all your heart that Heavenly Father loves you and knows you by name. It is such an overpowering feeling to know that He hears my prayers and I have the gift of the Holy Ghost. There is not a day that goes by when I don't tell Him how greatfull I am for sending his Only Begotten Son to this Earth to save a sole such as mine.

How I live my faith

Currently I am serving as the second councilor to the Primary President. Before that I was the Secretary for a number of years. I have been the Visiting Teaching Coordinator 2 times, Primary teacher for the nursery (from about 1and a half years to 3 years of age), 3,8 and 12 year olds. I also served on several committees helping others with meals and other needs. I joined the Church about 22 years with my 2 children and spent most of the time in Primary (I think I never grew up, that is why they keep me with the kids - it is more fun) I love the children. My husbnd and I did a Service Mision for the Church (where you can still live at home, but volunteer for work on week days) and are currently serving for the second time at the Oakland Temple. My husband is the Cub Scout leader for one group of children and I am the serving on several committees for the Scout program. The Church fills our daily lives and we love serving others.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Jackie Lynn
The Temple is not secret it is Sacred. Many Churchs have their Sacred areas and each religion should respect these. Any member of the Mormon Church is more than welcome to the temples. However, they have to have what is called a "Temple Recommend" this shows that they have had the classes the Church provides on the ettiquatte of being there. Sort of like a drivers license, until you are trained on what you is expected of you, you can't drive a car. These are personal and very spirital and each person carrying a Temple Recommend knows how Sacred it can be. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Jackie Lynn
No, we do not worship him. He believe he was a Prophet of God and was directed by God to form our Church. We honor him the same as we honor Moses or any other Prophet during Biblical times Show more Show less
