Hi I'm Heidi K

I'm a country girl, a wife, a mother, a businesswoman, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am a Rocky Mountain girl at heart who moved to the California 20 years ago and live in the country with my husband and two sons. I graduated in 2001 with a BS in Business. I was a Human Resource Manager and Trainer by profession but made the choice to leave my career and be a full time mom after the birth of my oldest son. That was 17 years ago. It was an act of faith that has been an incredible journey that added dimension and color and adventure to my character and personality - nearly two decades later I am so grateful that I took the leap and walked away from a career I loved to develop into a Mother! It didn't come naturally but I discovered I can be anything I put my mind to and I will never regret giving my talents and skills to my children.

Why I am a Mormon

Because something burned in my soul throughout my childhood telling me that God loved me as well as all of his children and that he intended for us to be happy inspite of adversity and successful in fullfilling our divine calling... I come from a great pioneer heritage. My great, great, great grandfather, Peter Maughan, joined the church in England and traveled to America with Brigham Young and other Apostles. He and his wife Marianne left a lasting legacy in Cache Valley, Utah, the area they established for President Young. I have many other pioneer ancestors in my other family lines. Unfortunately, over the years, many of my ancestors and family members wandered in and out of activity in the church and by the time I was born many of my immediate family were not active in the church. Yet, I went to church enough to know that the answers were there and that one day I would have the choice and opportunity to search the truth out for myself. As a young adult I set out to "find my testimony"... it culminated in finally reading the Book of Mormon from front to back at the age of 27. This led to me finally - firmly - planting my feet squarly in the gospel. I've never looked back.

How I live my faith

About two months after I finished reading the Book of Mormon, for the first time, I was called to be the President of the Young Women's organization which included over 300 girls ages 12-17. I served for 3 years and it was a great time of learning and growth and allowed me to use my professional skills in organizational development and training. My husband and I were then asked to organize and develop a program for Young Single Adult men and women 18-25 who are unmarried in the 10 congregations in our area. It was an exceptional four years and I loved working with and teaching leadership and organizational skills to people that were on the verge of making some of the most important decisions of their lives. I was then asked to serve as president of my congregation's women's organization for four years. I was again able to put my professional skills and education to use, organizing our charitable efforts and training women to more efficiently use their time and resources at home and in the community. My vision was that we would be a recognized relief organization in our rural community and force for good to serve all of God's children. We had the opportunity to work with other faiths caring for families and individuals and it helped break down barriers. But in the end, I live my faith but following the Holy Spirit everyday - to the best of my ability. I do my best to be a covenant keeper and raise my family to do the same.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Heidi K
It is God's holy word. It is a record of God's dealings with his children from Adam to the death of Christ's apostles in the Old World or Holy Land. Show more Show less
