Hi I'm Kristy

I am a blessed wife and mother who loves to spend time with my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of six children and grew up mainly in Georgia, USA. I love to spend time with my family outdoors...running, swimming, jumping on the trampoline, etc......! Our family likes to stay active and our oldest children run cross-country at school. They are faster than I am! I enjoy baking, playing piano, reading, and volunteering in my children's schools. Our family tries to stay physically active and we participate in a few races and a triathlon each year. My husband and I value education and we try to instill that in our children.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Latter-day Saint home. My father was a convert, and joined the church shortly before he met my mother. Even thought the gospel was taught in my home while growing up, and we went faithfully to church each week, I gained my own testimony of its' truthfulness through personal study and prayer. The Holy Ghost brings feelings of peace when we learn truth or when we are doing what is right. I feel peaceful when I read the Book of Mormon, and the Bible, and I know that they are true and testify of the divinity of Jesus Christ, our Savior. My testimony of the gospel is strengthened when I keep the commandments and follow the teaching of Christ. I am happy! I am so thankful to know that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored in its fullness in these latter-days. We have a living prophet on the earth! What a blessing to have a prophet's guidance in this troubling world, in these times today. The blessings of the priesthood--or authority to act in God's name and perform sacred ordinances such as baptism--have been restored on the earth. I am a Mormon because I know these things are true. The Holy Ghost has witnessed to be of the truthfulness of these things. It means everything to me. I am particularly grateful for the blessings of eternal families and to know that God's plan is for families to be together forever. I also am so thankful to know that God loves ALL of His children so very much and that the Plan of Salvation makes it possible for all of His children to make it back to live with Him again after this life. Even those who never had the chance to hear about the gospel, or accept Jesus Christ as their Savior and follow Him in this life, will have the opportunity to learn and accept it in the hereafter. The beauties of the doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints affirm that Jesus is the Christ and that God has a plan for all of us. He loves us and has provided a way for us to learn of Him and receive promised blessings.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to follow Christ in my every day living. As members of the church, we are counseled to hold weekly Family Home Evenings, which is an evening of family time and learning the gospel together. We each have a specific assignment each week---choosing the songs, preparing a gospel lesson, sharing a scripture, preparing a treat, etc.... We look forward to it each week! We also have family scripture reading each morning and family prayer every day as well. This draws us closer to one another and to the Lord. I love how the church provides opportunities for us to learn in grow in many areas. As members, we each have the blessing of serving in different capacities in the church. In the past I have served in the women's organization (The Relief Society), a teacher of the 12-13 year old girls, a Sunday School teacher, a pianist, and as a leader in Primary (the children's organization). My husband has had many opportunities as well and currently serves as the Bishop (pastor) of our ward/congregation. In the church, we serve where we are asked, and the Lord helps us! We are all unpaid because our church is a lay ministry. We serve because we love the Lord and all things are for His glory, not for monetary pay or earthly honor. Living the gospel really permeates every aspect of my life. I am far from perfect, but have faith that our Savior Jesus Christ atoned for my sins and that as I follow Him and His teachings, I will be blessed in this life, and in the hereafter. He loves me and all of God's children. He is our biggest cheerleader through the trials and challenges of life. He died for us and He Lives for us too. He restored His gospel in its fullness in these latter-days. I know that it is true!
