Hi I'm Doug

I work as a firmware engineer. I have a beautiful wife and two cats. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a twenty-something guy who grew up in Idaho. For the past 3 years I have been working as a computer engineer. I write and maintain firmware for wireless devices. I really like electronics, computers, and all things tech. I have been a Mormon for my entire life. I love this church very much and spend a lot of my time helping out at my local congregation. In our spare time my wife and I enjoy photography, cooking, and trying new foods.

Why I am a Mormon

I don't know where I would be without The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I firmly believe that Jesus Christ is my Savior. The teachings of the Church have helped me to better understand the role that God plays in my life. Life can be really hard at times, but being able to see the big picture makes things so much easier.

How I live my faith

I could spend a lot of time writing about how I live my faith, but I think I will sum it up as this: I try to become a little more like Jesus Christ every day. I am about as far away from perfection as I can get, but I know that God doesn't care much about where I am, only where I am heading. I know that if I try to get a little bit better every single day my Heavenly Father will magnify my tiny efforts and transform them into a happy, fulfilled life. That is how I live my faith.

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

Doug
The Church takes a politically neutral position. No one in an official church capacity will tell you who to vote for or which political party to belong to. The church forbids its buildings and facilities from being used for direct political reasons. Although the Church never endorses political parties it will at times take a stand on moral issues that may happen to be political. That being said, The Church does encourage its members to be active in political and civic matters. The Church strongly supports democracy and freedom and encourages its members to vote their conscious and serve in political and civic capacities. In the United States, there are many Mormons in both major political parties...from Harry Reid (the Senate Majority Leader, a Democrat) to Mitt Romney a former Republican Presidential candidate. Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Doug
Absolutely not. We worship God and have faith in Jesus Christ our Savior. Joseph Smith was a prophet in the same sense that Moses and Abraham were prophets. Joseph Smith's mission was to act as God's messenger on the earth. I have an immense amount of respect, gratitude, and honor for Joseph Smith, but I only worship God. Show more Show less
