Hi I'm Ashley M.

I'm a new mom and a wife. I'm a musician and college student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 25 years old and I just had my first child. He is a happy healthy and wonderful little boy! :) Being a mom is more amazing than I ever could have imagined. I love my new and growing family so much! I got married to the love of my life just under 2 years ago and have loved every minute of it! I have two brothers and one sister-in-law. I have finished 6 years of college and am two semesters away from finishing. I am not sure when I will get those semesters done since being here at home for my son is the most important thing I can be doing right now. It is my hope that I will be able to get them in soon. I have a deep love for music and play many instruments including the Oboe, Flute, and Piano. I have been studying elementary music education at school and want to teach children to enjoy music.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Mormon religion. My family had a lot of trials growing up and I felt very alone. The one thing that kept me going was the relationship I had with my Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ. Through reading my scriptures, praying, and attending church I was able to have a constant friend when for years, the world was blowing up around me. I learned that Jesus Christ really is my Savior and the best friend I could ever want and my Heavenly Father truly loves me, though I still face challenges and problems, I know I will never have to face them alone because He has always been there for me and I know He always will be.

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday. My husband and I set aside time every Monday for family time. It's a night we call family home evening. We sing a song, say a prayer, and then one of us shares a lesson we have prepared about our Savior and faith. Afterward we do a fun activity, like work on a puzzle, watch a movie, or bake together. It's a great time for us to bond as a family, even though we are a small one. :) It's a tradition we have enjoyed and now we continue it every week with our infant son. We also read scriptures as a family nightly and say our prayers both personal and family. We want to grow closer together and to our Savior and we find these things really help! I also spend time with my son telling him stories from the scriptures and singing hymns. It is my hope that my son will grow up knowing that he has a best friend in his Savior and that he will turn to Him whenever help is needed.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Ashley M.
Yes! A husband and wife can be together forever! It is through the sealing power. In the New Testament the Savior gives the power to bind on earth and in heaven to Peter. We believe that power is again on the earth and that the power to seal or bind on earth and in heaven can and does seal a couple married by those who hold that power. We have temples and marriages performed in them are eternal marriages, which are marriages performed by those who have that sealing power. My husband and I were married under that power. If we live righteous lives and do our best to follow all our Savior and Heavenly Father wants us to do, we will be able to be sealed together, and to our son (and other children who we will have) for eternity. We will live together in Heaven and we will be a family forever. That is one of the greatest joys and blessings in my life, knowing I will be with my husband, son, and future family forever. Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Ashley M.
I do believe that there is a prophet alive today. He is a prophet in every sense of the word, just as Noah and Moses were prophets. God uses his prophet to be the head of his church on earth. God and the Savior are the head and they speak to the prophet. Today's prophet is Thomas S. Monson. I have meet him and heard him speak in person. When I hear him, or even when I am in a room with him, I am filled with the most peaceful, spiritual calmness. That peace tells me beyond a doubt that I am in the presence of a prophet of God. The prophet tells us what we need to do to get back to live with God. With all the turmoil in the world we need him to help us know and remember what is right, wrong, and what we should be doing. We do not follow blindly. He encourages us, just as prophets have before, to learn for ourselves if what he tells us is true. I pray to Heavenly Father and ask if those things the prophet is saying are true things I should follow. He tells me that they are through that peaceful, calm feeling. It helps me know for sure that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Ashley M.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God. The virgin Mary was his mother. He lived a perfect, sinless life. He performed many miracles including turning water into wine, giving sight to the blind, healing the lame, blind, and sick, and countless others. He not only taught how to live a righteous life but was a perfect example for us to look up to and follow. Jesus Christ suffered and died for our sins in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross. Through that suffering he performed the atonement which means he suffered for our sins. Because of his suffering for our sins, we are able to be forgiven of them. We can not enter Heaven if we have sinned but since he, a sinless man, paid for them by suffering for them, he has the power to forgive us of those sins and they can turn from scarlet to white as snow as it says in the bible. We can be fully forgiven and as He said, "I the Lord remember them no more." If we honestly and humbly repent of our sins we can feel his peace in our lives. Jesus Christ is our Savior. Through his resurrection, he overcame death. Because of this we can and will all overcome death. Our spirits will be reunited with our bodies and each and every one of us will be resurrected. Jesus Christ is also our friend. He loves us each dearly no matter what sins we have committed. He wants us all to be with him and is always there for us. Show more Show less
