Hi I'm Blaine

I have lived in six states and three countries, practice law, married my high school sweetheart, and have six kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up the son of an Air Force doctor. I am now a lawyer and father of six. We moved around a bit when I was young. Although it was hard leaving friends behind with each move, I remember enjoying the adventure of moving to new places. When I was a young man, we lived in England. I loved visiting the castles and historical sights. I will never forget a trip with my mom to Cambridge where she bought me a copy of C.S. Lewis's "The Horse and His Boy." I have been an avid reader ever since. My parents split up when I was about 14 years old. I moved with my mom and four siblings (three brothers and one baby sister) to Bountiful, Utah. It was about one year later, when I was 15, that I met Jaimee Kae Despain in the cafeteria at Bountiful High School. I didn't know it then, but she was going to be the mother of my six children: Cameron, Kelsey, Ellie, Isaac, Jason, and Elise. From age 19-21, I served as a missionary for my Church in East Los Angeles, Portugal, and the Cape Verde Islands. When I returned, Jaimee and I were married. I completed a Bachelor of Arts from Brigham Young University, a Juris Doctor from the University of Kentucky, and an LL.M from The George Washington University Law School. I now practice law in Louisville, Kentucky. My favorite thing to do is be a dad and a husband. Carried forward from my days in England is a love for taking my family on adventures. From nature hikes to historical cites, I love spending time with them.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe in God. I believe that he is and that he created all things. I believe that I am his son, and that he loves me. I believe in Jesus Christ and that he is the Savior of all mankind. I believe, quite simply, that Heavenly Father has a plan of happiness for all of us. My faith teaches me to follow the plan of happiness, and to live after the manner of happiness. The manner of happiness is to follow God's commandments by living a life of virtue, love, and service to others. My faith teaches me that this life is just a small moment in the boundless eternities. My faith teaches that if I follow God's plan for me, then, after this short mortal life, I can be together forever with Jaimee, Cameron, Kelsey, Ellie, Isaac, Jason and Elise. There is nothing I want more than that. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be the best dad and husband that I can be. To be sure, I fall short. But I press forward knowing that my family is my greatest source of happiness and joy. I try to teach my kids to love and serve each other, to be good neighbors, and good citizens of their community and their country. I serve in the Church as the Ward Mission Leader. As part of my calling, I declare with absolute conviction that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the key to peace and happiness in this life, and eternal life in the next.
