Hi I'm Dale

I sing in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

About Me

I live in Salem, Utah on a small lake. I love my family. I have a few llamas and a Scottish Terrier. Love the outdoors. Love art, music, and architecture.

Why I am a Mormon

I know by the Spirit that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of this world. He is the only begotten son of our Heavenly Father whose children we all are. I know Joseph Smith is a prophet. I know the Book of Mormon is true. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is guided by Jesus Christ. He is at the helm. My ancestors joined the Church in Europe in the 1840s, and because of their testimonies of Jesus Christ left their homes and families, crossed the ocean, and then crossed the great plains in covered wagons, handcarts, and by foot to come to Utah to live in religious freedom. I have a great heritage to live up to. I honor them and try to live worthy of their great sacrifices.

How I live my faith

I am a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and as such I serve as a musical missionary for the Church. The choir is best known for its weekly Sunday broadcast, Music and the Spoken Word, which originates from Temple Square in Salt Lake City. This program is the oldest continuous nationwide network broadcast in America. I live about 65 miles from Salt Lake City and travel back and forth in a carpool about 140 times each year. It is a marvelous experience. I love it. I can sing about Jesus Christ and sing many inspirational songs and people listen and feel the spirit. It was recently said of the program, "In every edition of Music and the Spoken Word, for someone, somewhere, magic happens."

What is the First Vision?

What we call the First Vision is one of the most important events in the history of the earth. Joseph Smith as a young man was confused about which Church to join. He decided to go to a grove of trees near his house to pray out loud and ask God which was the right church. As he prayed a pillar of light brighter than the sun at noon day descended upon him. In this light were two personages. One of them called Joseph by name, and said "Joseph, this is my beloved son, hear him." These two visitors were God our Heavenly Father, and his Son Jesus Christ. Joseph learned that the true Church of Jesus Christ was no longer on the earth, but that it would be restored through him. I know that this event actually occurred. It was marvelous. From this event I can learn that Heavenly Father answers prayers. He knows us by name. He is actually our Father. I am his son. I learn that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are two distinct persons. One in purpose. I know that we aren't left to go through this life experience alone. Jesus Christ is the head of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He guides us through a prophet and twelve living apostles. Someday I hope to visit the Sacred Grove in upstate New York where the First Vision took place. Show more Show less
