Hi I'm Kimberly

I am a wife and I love life, my husband and my dog and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married and I have 3 step children. I was not able to have my own, so I was blessed to share the responsibility of rearing my husbands kids with him. They are now all grown and on their own. We have a great dog and love to take her out and trails and walks where we live. She thinks she is in dog heaven around here. I love to read and learn new things. I work in the yard under my husband supervision, as I don't have the "green thumb" but I still love to garden. We spend time together in our backyard talking after work and just love being together.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were members of the Church before I was born. So I am what is referred to "born into the church". But just as everyone does I still needed to have my own conversion and not depend on my parents. Mine came during a youth conference, when a famous football quarter back was a guest speaker. Now that did not mean much to me, being I am a girl, but I listened. At the end of his talk, he made a challenge to all that night, to go a find a place. Take a Book of Mormon and read, Alma 5 and Moroni 10. Well I did. Before I could even open the book, I knew. I felt it. I know then and I know now. I know my Heavenly Father loves me and He has a plan for me to return and live with Him again. Jesus Christ paid the price for all mankind, Joseph Smith was a true prophet and we have a prophet today. This is Christ Church. I can say this, this is my testimony.

How I live my faith

I simply just live. I strive to live and keep the covenants I made at baptism when I was eight years old. I know in turn my Heavenly Father will bless me. I am strengthen by reading my scriptures and having my daily personal prayers.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Kimberly
We use the King James version of the Bible and believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it was translated correctly. It is sacred in nature and we use it to learn and to teach from. Show more Show less

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Kimberly
First you have to have some belief in Jesus Christ. Begin by reading about his life in the scriptures and have a open mind and soft heart. Then begin with a simple prayer. Take it day by day. With a desire to follow the commandments and with study and prayer you won't go wrong. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Kimberly
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a Church of service. There is no paid ministry because that is the way the Lord wants his Church to be run. We serve one another, we serve our community, and we serve our families. Show more Show less

What is the Church’s position on abortion?

Kimberly
My parents adopted me. I was reared by loving parents who needed children in their home. I was one of the lucky ones. I am grateful for my parents, both sets of them. The ones I have not met especially who loved me enough to give me life and to entrust my life to my Mom and Dad. I will thank them one day. The church opposes abortion and tells us that only in extreme cases is it acceptable if the mother health is in danger, or if the pregnancy was caused by an act of rape, or some other sexual trauma. But even those cases is not just a simple "go ahead" without counseling from local Priesthood Authority and prayer. I do not know the situation in my birth mother case, but I do love her for what she did for me, without her I would not have had the great life I did. Show more Show less

What is a ward/stake/branch?

Kimberly
There are some funny terms used, but when you grow up in the church you don't think twice about it. So what you would call your "Congregation" We use the term Ward or sometimes Branch (if it is smaller). Pretty simple. We are also organized into an area for our Ward so that sometimes there might be two or three Wards into one building depending on how many members in that area. To me that is awesome way of using the buildings. A Stake is made up of many Wards. So in our individual Wards we have our Ward leaders and a Bishop (and we are all serving one another, no paid ministry) and in the Stake we have leaders. I can go any where in the world, let say if I live in America and I was traveling to South Africa, I can find a Ward on the very next Sunday and they will be studying the same Sunday School Lesson. Everything is the same no matter where you go in the world. That could only be because this is the true and living church on the face of the earth. Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

Kimberly
The Priesthood simply put is the authority to act in God's name. It is the same power that Jesus Christ had when he was here upon the earth. He ordained apostles to "act" in God's name. However this power was lost upon the earth and now has been restored. In today's time I can receive priesthood blessings from worthy men who hold this power such as a blessing when I am sick, or when I am seeking special guidance. Worthy men preform all the saving ordinances that leads us back to live with our Heavenly Father. All of our church meetings are organize and run by and thru this same Priesthood. It really is a blessing in my life to know this power is back on the earth. It shows me how much God loves his children and wants all of us to return and live with Him again. Show more Show less
