Hi I'm Russell

I'm from Hawaii, I'm a gamer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

If I were to use one word to describe myself it would be "gamer". I love games of any kind, whether they be video games, card games, board games, etc. I consider myself a PC gamer although I do play console games at times. World of Warcraft, real time strategy games, and first person shooter games are my favorites! I also love the internet! It is definitely a precious resource if used correctly. Besides games, I also love the outdoors. Long, arduous hikes and I don't really get along, but I do enjoy easy mode hiking and camping. Some of my most memorable experiences have been with my Boy Scout troop doing the typical Boy Scout things. I also love fishing, although I don't catch much. In high school I played football for four years, and participated in track. I think that playing sports for four years definitely taught me a lot of patience and the value of repetition and practice. Not to mention, it gave me lasting friends and memories. I was quite the student in high school, and was able to attend college for two semesters after I graduated. I took a lengthy summer break, and I'm currently serving a two year mission for the Church.

Why I am a Mormon

Because the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the only true and living church.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a two year mission for the Church in the Montana Billings Mission. Serving gives me the opportunity to share what I know with others, regardless of if they are interested in the church or not. It gives me the opportunity to help in bringing people closer to Jesus Christ, and to gain more joy in their lives. As part of my missionary work in Montana, I also have the chance to be on Facebook and blog. In the blog I write as part of my missionary work, another missionary and I relate World of Warcraft to the restored gospel. On Facebook I also have the opportunity to share what I know and chat with those that may be interested in our message!

What is the Book of Mormon?

Russell
The Book of Mormon is an ancient volume of scripture comparable to the Bible. It serves as another testament that Jesus is the Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of the world. We can come to know that it is true through earnest and sincere prayer, study, and pondering the message it contains. The book of Mormon begins with the story of a prophet named Lehi, who lived around the time of the prophet Jeremiah in the Bible. At this particular time many prophets arose to tell the people at Jerusalem to repent, or they would be carried away captive into Babylon. The people chose not to hear the message of the prophets, and cast them out. As Lehi's life was sought, he was told by the Lord to leave Jerusalem with his family, and that a land was prepared for him and his children. The Book of Mormon tells the story of Lehi's family, their dealings with God on the American continent, and the prophecies that they received. Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Russell
The Book of Mormon was written by prophets who lived anciently on the American continent. These prophets wrote of their dealings with God on gold plates, which were in turn abridged by the prophet Mormon. The plates were then translated by Joseph Smith. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Russell
No, we do not worship Joseph Smith. We do however recognize him as a Prophet, and are grateful for the life that he has lead.  Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Russell
Yes! We know that God has always called prophets to lead, guide, and direct the people. It makes so much sense to me that our Heavenly Father would once again call prophets to the earth, especially in the troubling times that we have today. I know that the prophet that speaks for God today is President Thomas S. Monson.  Show more Show less
