Hi I'm Serena Lyn

I grew up in a non member family and was baptized alone at 15. I am a single Mom of 3 amazing kids. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a single Mother. I have 3 beautiful kids, 2 boys and a girl. I am blessed to be a stay at home Mom. I love being a Mom, even though being a single Mom without help from the other parent is difficult. I love to read, and prefer to read gospel centered books, but have been drawn to the "dark" side and love the Twilight series. I LOVE working outside in my yard and flower beds. This brings me peace and great joy. I like to cook but when it comes to regular dinners, I just seem to do the basics. I remember a time when my kids were little I did so much more. I love to volunteer. I help with a local "soup kitchen" and help at the Middle school with reading. I feel like being involved and giving my time is the best way I can serve others and have the opportunity to share the gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

WOW! Ask a deep question... Why am I a Mormon? Because I KNOW with every fiber of my body, mind and spirit that this is the true church. The EXACT church Christ established and taught when he was on the Earth. When I was 13 years old I felt a "hole" in my life. I didn't know what I was missing, but something led me to religion. I searched many churches in my area and none of them felt right. There was always something that "creeped me out". So I kept searching. During Junior High I met a girl that was a member. She took me to dances and the "fun" stuff but I didn't go to church with her for a long time. I was exposed to her family and the religion in the home, but it didn't strike me there. One Saturday night I stayed the night after a dance and went to church with her family the next morning. The moment I walked into the foyer, I knew I was "home". That began my journey to the truth. I took the discussions, but my Mom wouldn't let me get baptized until I had been going to church for a year at least. So I went. And was finally baptized on September 8, 1985! Unfortunately I am still the only member in my family. But I can say this is the most important, wonderful and blessed decision I have EVER made in my life. The gospel carries me through so many hardships in my life. I can say my life hasn't been the easiest road, but I know that the Lord has walked beside me every step of the way and has been my constant companion and my biggest fan!

How I live my faith

I am called to work with the "babies" in the ward. I teach the 18 month to 3 year olds. They are such a fun age. There is a lot of playing, singing, coloring, lessons and snack time. YAY snack time! I learn the basic gospel principles all over again teaching these wonderful little ones. I also visit 4 wonderful Women in the ward. I take a lesson to them monthly and usually a little something special. This is a wonderful way to get to know other women and make sure they aren't in need of something that has been over looked or they haven't mentioned. There is such a special and strong spirit with this kind of teaching. I love this calling in my ward!!!
