Hi I'm Rachel

I'm a mom of three young children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay-at-home mom with three young kids. I try to find fun and creative ways to live on a tight budget such as cooking from scratch, gardening, and canning. I LOVE to read, when I find a good book, I can’t put it down! The best part of my day is when my kids and I sit on the couch and read stories together.

Why I am a Mormon

I was first introduced to the church when I was 14 years old. My best friend invited me to come to a weeknight activity. I enjoyed myself and soon, most of my friends were members of the church, even though I lived in a small town with few members. Although I went to the activities, and occasionally attended a church meeting, I was not all that interested in the teachings of the Church. But, as my high school graduation approached, my best friend shared her testimony with me. She expressed her love for the Gospel and invited me to find out for myself if the church was true. After that, I went home and prayed. I asked Heavenly Father to help me know if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was in fact His Church on the earth today. My answer did not come all at once, but the pieces began to fall into place quickly. That summer I took a road trip with my best friend across the country to where she would be attending college. I stayed with her for about six weeks, and while I was there, I decided to hear the missionary lessons. I read the Book of Mormon daily, I prayed sincerely and often. One afternoon the missionaries came over for a lesson. They brought with them a video which showed some of the Apostles and the Prophet bearing testimony of Jesus Christ and of the Church. As I watched that video, I was overwhelmed by the Spirit testifying to me that what I was hearing was true. It was a feeling that I will never forget. At that moment I knew without a doubt that God had answered my prayers, that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day-Saints is His Church, that the Book of Mormon is true scripture, that Joseph Smith did see God the Father and Jesus Christ, and that there is today a Prophet of God on the earth. I was baptized a few days later. As I came out of the waters of baptism, my heart was full. I knew I had made the right decision. I know that God answered my prayers, I will never deny it.

How I live my faith

I am an Activity Day Leader, which means I get to plan activities for the girls who are ages eight through eleven. The girls do things during our activities like cooking, sewing, and playing games. We also have the girls think about their future and make long- and short-term goals for things like education, and family. And we include gospel oriented activities that allow the girls to grow in their faith. Activity Days are all about having fun, making friends, learning and growing!
