Hi I'm Chip

Born in Iowa. Grew up in Southern California. Now living in Utah. Father of five, husband of one. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Father of five (so far...?). Blessed to be married to my best friend. I enjoy all sorts of outdoor activities.

Why I am a Mormon

From latter-day revelation we learn that the Father and the Son have tangible bodies of flesh and bone and that the Holy Ghost is a personage of spirit, without flesh and bone (D&C 130: 22-23). These three persons are one in perfect unity and harmony of purpose and doctrine (John 17: 21-23; 2 Ne. 31: 21; 3 Ne. 11: 27, 36). This pearl of seemingly innate truth is divergent from most all other non-Mormon Christian faiths. Other eternal truths are also made clear(er) by latter-day revelation given to God's servants the prophets. As I study out their words, as well as the words from Biblical and Book of Mormon prophets, the Holy Ghost has surely testified so that I may be a witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Mosiah 2: 17 And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.

Why don't Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church's law of health and proper diet?

The Word of Wisdom comes as a blessing to all those who choose to follow. (D&C 89:3 Given for a principle with promise, adapted to the capacity of the weak and the weakest of all saints, who are or can be called saints.) All things in moderation is tough when dealing with addictive substances. Besides the addictive properties of caffeine and alcohol, they also cause dehydration and affect your central nervous system and heart functions. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Mosiah 18: 10 Now I say unto you, if this be the desire of your hearts, what have you against being baptized in the name of the Lord, as a witness before him that ye have entered into a covenant with him, that ye will serve him and keep his commandments, that he may pour out his Spirit more abundantly upon you? According to the GUIDE TO THE SCRIPTURES... MISSIONARY WORK is defined as: To share the gospel of Jesus Christ by word and by example. In a nut shell... YES, every member should be a perpetual missionary! However it is NOT requisite to serve a mission in order to be considered a member "in good standing". Show more Show less

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Malachi 3: 10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. It is something I look forward to and I do not question the value of the blessings promised. You will experience the blessings too by faithful diligence in following the law of tithing.
