Hi I'm Ellen Ray

About Me

I'm a recent convert to the church. My husband & I have 7 children & 2 very close foster children. We have 30 grandchildren & 26 great-grandchildren. We are the legal guardians for one great-grandchild who just turned 8 & was baptised in the church. My husband retired early due to medical problems and I still work for the same great Insurance Company after 27 years -- I may retire in 3 yrs. I went to college nights while caring for family & home & received a degree for which I'm very proud.

Why I am a Mormon

Five years ago my husband had his first stroke & we almost lost him. During the time he was confined to bed or home, he listened to church history tapes -- our previous church & the Mormon church share early history. During that time he & I began to question & wonder which way was God's way when the shared history stopped & there became 2 churches. We believe God's answer for us was to change churches; which we did after much prayer. This was the greatest decision we have ever made for we now have complete peace & joy in our lives.

How I live my faith

I have been blessed to have been kept very busy since joining the church just 5 years ago. I have taught Sunday School for children & adults. I enjoy visiting members of our church to share my testimony & getting to know them better while offering to help in whatever ways they need. I also enjoy visiting & sharing my testimony with those not of our church. I especially love to share with those still in the church I was a member of for 30 years--not to judge but to explain why I left that church & joined this one.

What are some of the ways that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helps those around the world?

Ellen Ray
Each time there is a natural or man-made disaster, the Mormon Church is one of the first on the scene. Not just to help Church members, all of the people in distress. The rest of the world may never know of these acts of kindness; but that's not important. Sometimes another agency may mention the Mormon Church as having worked side-by-side with them to show their appreciation. Our church news reports of the many times we have helped others around the world to keep the members informed. Show more Show less
