Hi I'm Emily.

I grew up in Arizona and work as a health educator to help people improve diet, exercise, or quit smoking. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Arizona in a family of 6 kids. My family is one of the most important things to me, and when I'm not spending time with them, I also love to cook and make new recipes, especially with other people. I went to college and studied geography and public health. Now I work as a health educator to try to help people set goals to improve diet, exercise or to quit smoking. Since I also love to travel, I plan on doing some type of international public health work at some point. My other interests are running and hiking, being outdoors, and playing the piano.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have prayed to know for myself that this is the true church, the same one as when Jesus lived on the earth. I have not seen any visions, angels, or had dramatic experiences but I have had countless small experiences that have built my testimony of Jesus Christ and His Gospel. Even though it is not easy to be Mormon, I have learned that obedience brings the greatest peace and happiness. I know for myself that prophets called of God are on the earth today and through them we learn what God would have us do to return to Him. By trying to be like Jesus and studying his words as found in the Bible, Book of Mormon, and modern revelation, I am given the strength each day to face whatever challenges may come.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving as a visiting teacher to three other women in my congregation. I try to visit with each of them regularly to see how they are doing and we talk together about our testimonies, challenges, joys, and our efforts to be more like Jesus Christ. I love this type of service because it's an opportunity to serve as Jesus would - with unconditional love. I also live my faith by striving to serve and lift others when I go to work every day. I try to be happy and positive even if work is hard and to be genuinely interested in others. I also try to mention things to coworkers like prayer, scriptures, church, temples, and prophets so that they will know why I live the way I do. I also try to be honest in all I do even if I think no one is watching.
