Hi I'm Dustin

I'm an Optimist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. I love to learn and always have a good audio book in my car. I finished a degree in International Studies and another in Organizational Leadership. I recently started a business called Camistin Publishing and hope to share amazing life changing literature with people. I am married to a beautiful wonderful woman and have a son. I enjoy learning about other people, cultures, beliefs and languages. I love music as well. Mostly classical but am open to anything that is uplifting or cultural.

Why I am a Mormon

Like many people I have searched for the truth. There are so many different beliefs and ideas about God. Out of all of the beliefs I have studied I have seen fragments of similarities among them. Christ said "strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it" (Matt.7:14) I often thought about that scripture in relation to the thousands of different Christian churches and all of the other religions. I was invited to read The Book of Mormon in 2001 by my Dad, who joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 2000. I was always open to learning truth from whatever source it would come. I read The Book of Mormon and knew by the power of the Holy Ghost that it was a true record. I have grown closer to God by reading this book. It truly is another witness for all of us that Jesus Christ lives and that he loves us! I now know the straight and narrow way that leads to life and I have found it!

How I live my faith

We strive for what we like to call perfect mornings and perfect evenings. Starting and finishing each day with a song and a spiritual thought gets us moving in the right direction. Since 2008 we have never missed a night reading from The Book of Mormon. I have a standing personal goal to read seven pages of scripture a day. As I have read from the Bible, The Book of Mormon, The Doctrine and Covenants and The Pearl of Great Price, I have felt such a beautiful spirit fill my home and my life. I have also come to know Jesus much better than before. This goal has helped me get through each book of scripture. On Sunday we go to church and take the sacrament. This helps us to recommit our lives to the Savior each week.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Dustin
Mormon Temples are used for members of the church to make promises to God. The promises we make are simple, keep His commandments. Sounds easy but often we all make mistakes but God is midfull of that and that is why he gave His Son. We perform baptism and confirmation for those who have passed away without having the opportunity. My favorite thing to do in the temple is to perform "sealings" for people who have passed away. This is where someone that has the authority of the priesthood, given them by a prophet, can perform a marriage ceremony that makes it possible for families to be together, as a family, after this life.
