Hi I'm David

I ride a motorcycle, I play the trumpet, I love to learn, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I’m a convert to the church I joined in 1983 in when I lived Colorado Springs, Colorado. I play the trumpet, love to target shoot, do woodworking, and home improvement projects. I am a father and a husband to 8 wonderful children 5 of mine and three step-children – 4 girls, 4 boys. The challenges of combining two households into one has been interesting and challenging at times but through constant prayer and communication – it has worked out. We also have two beautiful grandchildren. We have 4 in college right now.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love Jesus Christ. He is my Lord and my Savior. I was raised a Methodist so I knew of Him through attending church and Sunday school in my youth. I’ve always felt there was more, something was missing. When the opportunity presented itself and I was introduced to the church, the message seemed very familiar, like I had heard it before even though I just met the missionaries. As they taught me the message, they taught of Love, of families and how we can be together forever. I learned of the Plan of Salvation, why we are here on earth; about the priesthood authority and how it had been restored. As I read from the Book of Mormon a peace came over me like I had never felt before. Things were starting to make sense; I knew who I was and why I was here; that we can live forever in the presence of Heavenly Father again; that if we repent, we can be forgiven from those sins. I have felt the redemptive power in my life and I am forever grateful for the atoning sacrifice that Jesus Christ gave to me.

How I live my faith

I try everyday to learn more about our Heavenly Fathers plan for me, for us. I was recently reading about the connection with knowledge, understanding and wisdom. We have to seek out knowledge in all things, secular and spiritual in order to gain understanding of those things, then through this knowledge and in conjunction with the Holy Ghost, we can obtain the wisdom we need, and often seek for. I also try to keep a positive outlook and look for the spiritual blessings for everything that occurs in my life.

What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

The Holy Ghost is the third member of the Godhead and is a constant companion to help, guide and comfort you in times of need. I often find myself trying to figure out difficult problems at work. I rely on the Holy Ghost for the solutions to these difficult problems. Often times this comes after I pray asking for guidance. Sometimes the inspiration comes almost immediately, other times it may take awhile but one thing for sure – it always comes. Of course I rely on the Holy Ghost in assisting me with many other difficult problems not only at work but at home as well. Many times the calming influence has been a blessing in my home and solutions are found where none had been seen before. I find that humility is the key. Show more Show less
