Hi I'm Kurt A.

I am an HR manager. I am training for my 3rd marathon. I enjoy water sports. I'm a husband and father of five and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and father and I am the middle child in my family. I have two older brothers and two younger brothers. We are all grown with families of our own but I consider my brothers my best friends. I work as HR Manager for a large national company. I have a bachelors degree in Spanish and a Masters degree in business. When I'm not working I enjoy spending time with my five children and my wife. I enjoy running and finished my first marathon in July of 2011. One of my favorite activities is water-skiing and I would spend all my time on the lake if I could. I was born in California but moved to Utah as a teenager.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (the "Mormon" church) when they were young with their families. They met and were married at BYU. My brothers and I were raised as members of the church and for many years I relied on my parents teachings sufficient reason to continue as a Mormon. I had the opportunity as a 19 year old young man to serve a mission in Mexico City. I would teach the gospel of Jesus Christ for two years. I knew that I could not teach the gospel if I didn't know for myself whether or not what I was teaching was true. I read the Book of Mormon, studied the words of modern day prophets but more importantly I prayed to my Father in Heaven to know whether or not the things I had learned and would be teaching were true. I knew in my heart without any doubt that what I was about to teach was the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As I have grown and matured and seen how chaotic and confusing this world can be the more thankful I am for the guidance and direction from the gospel. My testimony of the gospel sustains me and comforts me, and that is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Hopefully my interactions with others are a reflection of how I live my faith. As a Mormon I have the opportunity to provide service through various church callings. I currently work with our Young Men's organization. I work with our youth, ages 12-18, each week on scouting, service projects, career development, and various other activities. I also get to teach the gospel to them and help them learn how the scriptures, and the teachings of Jesus Christ can apply in our lives today.
