Hi I'm Trent Nielson

I'm a college student, I love to run and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Whats up!? I am an average 21 year old just hitting the books in school trying to make something of myself in the future. I love to run and every day I do it is an awesome day. I am one that fills up the glass while others determine if it is half empty or half full. I enjoy lots of outdoors activities climbing, rappelling, spelunking, Kayaking and much more. Ironically I am currently working on a computer science major. I have found I am happiest when I am serving others. I also love my family. They mean the world to me and life is so much more with them here!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Latter-day Saint for many reasons. I have come to love the Gospel of Jesus Christ as I have studied and learned from the Book of Mormon, Bible and other words of God. Through them I have been able to gain a testimony of Heavenly Father's love for me. As I keep him the center of my life I can become so much more than I am. I have come to better understand the Savior's Atonement and that through him I can return to my father in heaven. I have been able to recieve a witness that this church is true through the power of the Holy Ghost. I have felt a peaceful reaffirmation of its truth. As I continue to study the scriptures my mind is opened I am able to gain an ever clear understanding of our Father's Plan of Happiness. Through the teachings of our prophets I am brought a peace that fills my life like nothing before.

How I live my faith

I am very young in my life but my faith has been very strong in my life. As a child I remember going to church and learning of how I can be kind to others and then doing what I could to be nice to everyone. I also remember as a youth where I had the opportunity to learn important values in life and giving service to those in need. There were several youth activities I remember where we would help an elderly woman who could not take care of her yard herself. As I have grown older it has instilled in me a desire to be more & to "stand a little taller". I strive each day to be like my Savior and to follow the example He has set for me. I help those in need and share the love he has given me with others. Most of the way I live my faith is by my personal commitment to the Savior, my Savior and your Savior, Jesus Christ. The best 2 questions I can ask that determine the choices which I make are those of: "What thinkest Christ of me?" and the question "What would Jesus Do?" Very simple questions, yes. But that is what is great, the gospel is simple :)

What is the priesthood?

Trent Nielson
The priesthood is the power to act in God's name. As we have read in the Bible the priesthood was given to the prophets. If you look back and think of the Prophet Moses, you may recall he parted the Red Sea. Not just anyone could do this. But because Moses was called as a prophet and given the priestood, he could. The priesthood also gives those who hold it the power to baptize and perform all the ordincances of God. It is an amazing gift that has been restored to the earth again. Show more Show less

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

Trent Nielson
Absolutely not, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is open to men & women of all races. We are all children of a Loving Heavenly Father. As long as someone is living the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ they are welcome to join the Church. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Trent Nielson
We believe that this life is a probationary period. It is a time for us to prove to heavenly father that we want to be like him. We have been given the abiltiy to act, through this gift we may choose to follow Heavenly Father. As we follow heavenly father we are able to improve ourselves and demonstrate our dedication to him. In our path to him we must come here to gain a body, that we may be like him. I know that as I have kept God in my life it has been so much easier and happier. Show more Show less
