Hi I'm Jeff

I'm a pragmatic, research-active scientist and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a young scientist with a PhD in Physical Chemistry and am currently carrying out research in the field of medical imaging. I wanted to add my profile to the others on this site so that I could share my experiences loving and embracing both science and the gospel of Jesus Christ. Indeed, I find that my faith enhances my curiosity in the natural world. In addition to being a scientist, I am a father and husband. I believe that choosing to establish a family, in accordance with God's plan of happiness, was one of the best decisions I have made in this life; it has brought me great joy and happiness.

Why I am a Mormon

I first became a member of this church as a young child because my parents taught me to and I had no doubt they were right. More than twenty years later I've only confirmations that that was right as I've seen peace in my life when I've lived the gospel of Jesus Christ and only disappointment when I have not.

How I live my faith

I just try to be a good Christian to everyone... I try to be kind and considerate to others and try to help others when I can. That usually gives me plenty to work on throughout the week. One more personal aspect, that is related, is I start off my day with personal prayer to Heavenly Father and reading from the scriptures - either the Bible or the Book of Mormon. Doing this really helps me to feel my Heavenly Father's love for me and those around me.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Jeff
Yes, a husband and wife can be together forever and our children can live with us in heaven as well. Never has a more comforting truth been taught. We believe, however, that God prepared a certain formula for realizing this which is why Mormons are married in temples and not in a more traditional ceremony. Show more Show less

What are some of the ways that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helps those around the world?

Jeff
There are many ways that this is accomplished. First, the Mormon Church has an extensive welfare program that reaches out primarily to members of the church to help with social, emotional, and economic challenges on a short term basis see www.providentliving.org. Second, the Church contributes a portion of its members offerings to help others not of our faith such as those in developing countries and those in need after natural disasters and other calamities see www.ldsphilanthropies.org. Third, the Mormon Church preaches and teaches its members to be active members of society by encouraging members to participate and give back to the communities in which they live and to honor their local and national laws see the recent talk by Elder Eyring, an apostle, entitled "Trust in God, Then Go and Do" www.lds.org.  Show more Show less
