Hi I'm Skyeler E. Lucero

I'm a husband, an aspiring filmmaker, a kid at heart...and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have been a member of the Church since I was baptized at eight years old. I love my wife and all of my family. I am a college student with aspirations of becoming a film maker. I had the incredible opportunity to serve a full-time mission in Mexico. I will never forget it, nor the wonderful people that I miss and think about everyday. My beautiful wife and I can't wait to start a family and experience the purpose of this life. I like to sing and play guitar. I like to draw and paint with water color. I like to build props and set for stage and film. I like acting and film making in general. I like video games, movies and good music. I like Mexican, Italian, and Chinese food.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized at age eight. I was born into a struggling Mormon family. We were quite dysfunctional. As I grew I experienced many ups and downs with family, friends, and moving every couple of years or less. When I look back at all the family fights and other trials in my life, I always seem to recall something or Someone helping me along the way. I could have gone many different directions and become a completely different person, but my simple faith in Jesus Christ and the little knowledge I had about His Church and the Gospel were things that kept me tethered to the "track". I say again, I am not perfect. But, I know that through Jesus Christ and His Gospel I can be made perfect. His Church has been restored and is guided by Him through modern day prophets. This Church is true and that's why I am a Mormon

How I live my faith

Nobody is perfect. I am far from it in fact. What keeps me from spiritual derailment is my testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ among other things. I too, am bombarded with the world's temptations and the messages of what many call happiness. I know however that true happiness comes from God, and that as we strive to do His will we will feel and know where true happiness comes from. I have felt the difference as I have been in different places spiritually. I try to remember the times when I have been my best self, and the joy I experienced. It motivates me to not only find that again, but to be even better and experience that much more joy. Life is difficult. I will always revert back to my testimony for strength and the power to overcome weakness, and get through the difficult times with faith that things will turn out okay. Even if it is not the way I think that they should. I know the Lord has a hand in my life, and His will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Skyeler E. Lucero
We believe that no matter how good we live our lives and how much we strive to be righteous, we will always fall short of the mark. We know that we cannot be saved by our own efforts no matter how strong they are. We also do not believe we can simply be saved by belief or faith alone. We know that we are "...saved by the grace of God, after all that we can do"... God's grace does not exempt us from personal responsibility. We are still commanded to do the Lord's will even though He knows we will make mistakes and never fully realize our potential in this life. That is why His grace is sufficient to save all who do their best to return to Him. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Skyeler E. Lucero
No. He was a Prophet of God just as the ones we read about in the scriptures like Moses or Jeremiah. Prophets are chosen to lead and guide the children of God and invite them to come unto Christ. We only worship our Father in Heaven and His Son Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Skyeler E. Lucero
We believe the Bible to be the word of God. We are blessed to have the Bible and to be able to study it and ponder its message. The purpose of the Bible is to teach us about Jesus Christ and to invite us to "come unto Him". It was written by men who were called and chosen by God to guide the people to Him, by learning of Him and doing His will. The Bible was written and put together in a period spanning many centuries. It has been translated a number of times through history and it is a miracle that we have it today. In the Lord's Church, the scriptures do not stop at the Bible alone. God continues to speak to Prophets in our day and the need for scripture and guidance did not cease with Jesus and the Apostles of old. Nor did God only speak to the ancient inhabitants of the eastern hemisphere. He spoke also to prophets on the ancient American continent. Their writings are found in a volume of scripture that we also revere to be the word of God. That volume is called The Book of Mormon Another Testament of Jesus Christ. Is a companion scripture to the Bible. They both teach of Jesus Christ and His everlasting Gospel. Show more Show less
