Hi I'm Joyce Ella

About Me

Hi, I am a grandmother of 10 and mother of 3. I love my husband of 40 years with all my heart. We are working hard as a family live to be worthy of the Lord's blessings. I graduated from college and then went on to teach arts and crafts. After our first child was born, I became a stay at home Mom. I play the violin, mostly for fun. My husband and I have been very involved in community and political service in the last 10 years. We support conservative candidates and strive to make a better place for our grandchildren. I have served in many callings in our church. I have been a leader for our women's organizations and especially have enjoyed doing service for others. One of the projects we did was make 500 little gowns for newborns for our local hospital. We also helped the center for children with Aids. I find that reaching out to those in need is the best part of life. I also work in our temple one day a week and then work in the nursery with the 3 year olds on Sundays. My grandchildren are such a joy to me and I love them to pieces. Our family has had some challenges along the way just like any other family, but we have great faith in our Heavenly Father who we know loves us. I love sharing my beliefs with others because I know the gospel of Jesus Christ is the way to true happiness.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon not just because my parents raised me in this church. I had a time where I wanted to know for myself. I studied the Book of Mormon and prayed to ask my Heavenly Father if this book was true. I received a comfort in my heart. I also made promises when I was baptized to live like Jesus did. I have a long ways to go but when I am on this path, my life is much more peaceful and everything works out much better. I love being a Mormon. There is safety in this church. Keeping the commandments the way the Lord wants us to, really keeps you out of trouble. I highly recommend anyone who has a desire to search this out for themselves.

How I live my faith

My profile has many of the ways I live my faith. In addition, I try to be honest, loving and kind to others. I attend church every week, I serve in our community and church. I love my neighbors.

What is the First Vision?

Joseph Smith was 14 years of age in the early 1800's. He lived in upstate New York where there was much religious confusion going on. Members of his own family were joining different churches. He read in the book James that if anyone lacked wisdom they could ask God and He would give you the answer. He went across the road to a grove of trees and said a very earnest prayer. As he prayed, he received an answer I am sure he never expected. He saw the Father and the Son, Jesus Christ. They told him that none of the churches were true. He was instructed that the church that had existed in Christ's time, would be restored. Joseph Smith would play a major role in making that happen. I have stood in that grove. I have felt the calm peaceful spirit of that sacred place. I have been reassured that in deed our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are very involved in our lives and wish for us to return to them. In whom should we have faith?

Joyce Ella
My husband and I are currently serving an 18 month mission in Hong Kong China. My husband is serving as Legal Council for our church and I am serving in various ways including serving in the Filipino Branches here in Hong Kong. I teach a class called "Self Reliance" which teaches people to become independent and start their own business. This is a beautiful program our church has developed to help people in poverty. A few weeks ago, I spoke with a Chinese woman who is living here in Hong Kong and has been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for 42 years. This Chinese woman was explaining her testimony to a woman who was investigating our church. Her statement to this woman explains best in Whom we should have faith. She said, "Who else would I follow?" Who else would we follow except the son the Son of God, the only perfect person who lived on this earth. The one we owe everything to including eternal life. I do Trust Him, I do Have confidence in Him, He has forgiven me and He loves me. Show more Show less
