Hi I'm Heather

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I teach English as a second language to international undergraduate and graduate students. I find it a fun and stimulating challenge. I love traveling, museums, taking pictures of things, and eating ice cream. I love living in the city because it's exciting and there are lots of places to explore and people to watch, but I also love the wide open spaces, having grown up on a farm. I don't have a family of my own yet, but I love playing with my two-year-old nephew who is the most adorable little boy in the world.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a member of this church teaches me about my relationship with God. Because I know that He is really my father, I can pray and talk to him in a very real way, and I know He cares. I love the emphasis there is on family. I know that family relationships are some of the most important in this life. I also love the feeling of unity there is among members of the church worldwide. I can travel to almost any country and attend church there--the doctrine, programs, and fellowship are the same wherever you go. All of this has the aim to bring people to Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Because I'm single, I attend a local branch of single members aged 18-31. I enjoy coming to church every Sunday where I help out by teaching a class about the scriptures. This year, we're studying the Old Testament. I've learned a lot by preparing to teach these lessons. I'm also assigned to visit teach, or look after, two other girls. One thing I love about our local group is the huge diversity of people. Some are freshman university students, and others are working professionals, like myself. We get together during the week on Monday nights for activities and on Wednesday nights for institute, a scripture study class.

What is the priesthood?

This is the power of God used on earth to bless our lives and govern the organization of the church. Through this power, I can participate in ordinances, like taking sacrament every Sunday to renew my promise to follow Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
