Hi I'm Eric

I'm a husband, father and work in the field of education. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married to my wonderful wife for over 21 years. We are parents of two wonderful children. I enjoy the arts, especially dance and also the martial arts - judo and jujitsu.

Why I am a Mormon

Searching for Strength: I joined the church while I was looking to gain a stronger relationship with our savior Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father. Prior to joining, I was a very active member of another church. However, I felt something was missing. My first response was to look deeper inside me. Therefore, I began with prayer, reading the Bible more and serving more through a visiting ministry. The more I did this, the more I received impressions that something was missing. Finding it: Shortly after this time a friend invited me to visit the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While I welcomed the opportunity, I wanted to learn more about the doctrine before visiting. After reading information about the church and the prophet Joseph Smith, I attended my first service. The missionaries of the church were very helpful and provided additional information. Confirming my findings: While the missionaries were teaching me about the church in my home, I received the answer to my prayers. The answer that came is as vivid today as it was on that day over 24 years ago. The answer came as a confirmation to my actions of faith, prayer, study and investigation. In a simple and unforgettable moment, the Lord revealed his answer to my heart, soul and mind. The message that our Heavenly Father revealed to me was: 1. that our savior Jesus Christ loved me and all mankind very much; 2. that our Heavenly Father loved me and all mankind very much; 3. that the Bible and the Book of Mormon were both blessings and gifts; 4. that the Book of Mormon and the church were true; and finally 5. that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and saw our savior Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father. A few weeks later I was baptized.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to follow my savior Jesus Christ. To me faith is like a muscle. The more you exercise it the more it will grow and stay strong. I do this by accepting volunteer assignments to serve and lead. I have served on a hurricane relief team; taught and led several young men's organizations in our church; taught Sunday school classes; and coordinated family history events in my community. Teaching and serving provides me the opportunity to give back. It also allows me to learn more about and grow closer to Christ.
