Hi I'm Mike

I am a rare native Arizonan and also I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and a father of two children, and grandfather of three awesome kids. I served in the active duty military for many years and now I am a partner in a family commercial plumbing subcontractor business. I enjoy camping and most outdoor activities. I also enjoy an exciting sporting event, topped off with great conversation. I love motorcycles. Maybe more than I should.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the church, because of my life experiences. This gospel is the only thing that I have found that brings peace to my heart, healing to my mind, body and spirit and joy to my life. I still have human moments and the past sometimes comes creeping around. But I have found the place to where I can go to feel unconditionally loved by our Father, His Son our Savior, and true disciples of them.

How I live my faith

I strive to be the best person I can, for me, for my Heavenly Father, my Savior Jesus Christ, for my wife and children, and extended family and friends. I love this gospel and work hard to live by its teachings. I love my country. I believe that our country is a divine gift from our Heavenly Father.

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

I have spent hours upon hours pondering this very question. This question helped me gain my testimony that there is absolutely a loving God, our Father in Heaven. I have never been able to agree with science regarding the perfect creation of our earth and all living things on it, that creation occured they way science explains it. I don't know exactly how things were created specifically except through the laws of nature which has to be a specific process coordinated by a loving being who had a purpose for the creation. The beauty and variety of the earth is no accident. The ability for the earth to sustain life is no accident. The fact that all species of life, particularly human life, can re-produce after its own kind is no accident. I have prayed for the knowlege that our Father in Heaven created our spirits, our earth, our physical bodies for us to come and live mortal lives as a stage in our eternal progression. The answers I have received are a resounding YES. Life itself is no accident. Show more Show less

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

Today our prophet is Thomas S. Monson. I had an experience years ago that testified to me of who this man was and who he would become. I was serving as a counselor in a small military LDS congregation in Baumholder, Germany. I was very young and still learning and my testimony was still growing. Our stake presidency was hosting some training to better prepare individual leaders in their congregations to better serve the members of the church in their areas. This training was to be conducted by Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf, a german member called to serve and preside over the work in Germany. At that time Thomas Monson was serving as one of the twelve apostles of the church. He was coming from Salt Lake to give us instruction and training. I had never been near or received training and instruction from a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, so I was unsure what to expect when an Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ entered the chapel. But as soon as Elder Monson entered the chapel, the Holy Ghost entered with him, I couldn't maintain my seat, my body immediatley stood in respect of this special witness of the Lord. Then the most amazing and clear witness came into my mind and in my heart through the gift of the Holy Ghost. The Spirit confirmed in my mind that this man truly had committed himself to the service of the Lord. He truly was an apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ, and a special witness of Him, and that He would soon become the Lords' Prophet of the Lords' church. Show more Show less

Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?

SUBMIT YOURSELF TO THE WILL OF THE FATHER AND THE SON. I have been a fiercly independant man throughout most of my life. I relied on my own savvy, "street smarts" and experiences to struggle through this life. I spent so much time trying to understand what it meant to "submit" myself to His will. I could not seem to understand what or how to accomplish this. After all Heavenly Father gives the abilities we need and expects us to work things out for ourselves, to be proactive in our own lives and struggles. After much time in prayer and pondering and counsel and conference, I discovered that I only have control over my choices. I own no control over the consequences of my choices. Heavenly Father controls the consequences of choices. To either bless us abundantly because of correct choices or to withhold blessings because of disobedience and poor choices. So by "submitting" myself to the Lord or to the will of Our Father is to put my absolute trust in Him. Trust that if I keep and honor the covenants I made with Him, He will give to me the blessings He has covenanted. Trust that if I am obedient He will "open the windows of heaven". Trust that His Son Jesus Christ atoned for my sins and struggles, so if I come to Him truly repentant, I can and will be forgiven and He will make weak things become strong. Show more Show less
