Hi I'm Jared

About Me

I've been a member of the church all my life, but I've had the experience of being converted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have a wonderful wife and children and we face life's challenges and rewards together. My work and interests are centered in technology, so I analyze and think logically most of the time. However, the Gift of the Holy Ghost has let my heart teach my mind many things.

Why I am a Mormon

Because I know God lives and His son, Jesus Christ, is my savior. Because I know there is a plan and a purpose for my life. Because I've felt God's Spirit reveal to me that this is the true Church of Jesus Christ. In the challenges of the world today, I am so grateful to have the knowledge and direction the true church provides. It is a strength. It is a comfort. It is a vision of who I am, and what I can be.

How I live my faith

I'm currently a secretary for the young men's organization leadership. I help keep the leaders, teachers, and advisers coordinated on upcoming events and meetings. It is rewarding to watch these teenage boys learn and grow into men, both in life and in their testimony of Jesus Christ. I also often teach church classes. I thoroughly enjoy studying and discussing the principles of the Gospel.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon was written by ancient prophets that lived on the American continent. Their writings were compiled by a prophet named Mormon (hence the name) on to gold plates. These plates were miraculously preserved and then translated by Joseph Smith in 1829. Show more Show less

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Temples are the House of the Lord. A truly quiet place where God's spirit is felt, and the noise and commotion of the world and evil is kept out. Because of that, only members of the Church who are living the commandments are allowed to enter. The temple is not secret, it is sacred. We make covenants (promises) with the Lord in the temple. These promises are very important and special to me. So special, that it's not appropriate to discuss them with people, even with others that also go to the temple. I treasure that I have something that is held sacred between just the Lord and myself. And in the case of being married in the temple, a sacred covenant between the Lord, myself, and my wife. The temple ordinances are very symbolic. I try to attend the temple often to learn more about the purpose of life and God's plan of salvation for me. Because of the symbolic nature, I usually learn something new every time I visit. Show more Show less
