Hi I'm Elise

I grew up in Idaho. I speak English and Spanish. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am pursuing a Masters degree. I and am studying Information Science, specializing in Archives and Records Management. I love to read and be with my family. I enjoy traveling and seeing new places.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an LDS family, and grew up a member of the church. Sometimes I wondered if I really believed or was just doing what was expected, but over time, as I studied and lived the teachings of the church, I came to know for myself that the Church is exactly what it says it is. I cannot live my life without it. Every hope and joy in my life is connected to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

Church is a big part of my week. Every Sunday is my special day for going to church and taking a break from other hobbies. It gets me geared up for the rest of the week, and is a good chance to evaluate myself and my life. I am really interested in family history and work on related projects throughout the week.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Temples are used to teach us about who we are and who our Heavenly Father is. They prepare us to return to Him. This is accomplished in an environment that helps us set aside our worries and the day to day grind, so that we can be more focused on what we are learning and doing. Show more Show less

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

The Holy Ghost blesses us in so many ways. As I make important decisions, the Holy Ghost helps me know I am on the right track. It is a compass in that way. It magnifies my joy and brings me peace. The Holy Ghost opens up new ideas in my mind. It helps me know what is true. Show more Show less

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

God chooses the prophet, through revelation to the Apostles. The Church members then have the opportunity to sustain him, which means that they are showing their approval and committing to support him. Show more Show less

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

To me, the most obvious answer is that it is the truth! People who hear the gospel recognize the truth of it, and when you know truth it is hard to resist. People see the good that comes from the Church, and they want that in their lives. It really is an anchor--solid ground in a crazy world. Show more Show less
