Hi I'm Adele

About Me

I am married with 4 children. I balance work and family responsibilities. I love doing activities with my family, extended family and friends. I love to read, ski, hike, scrapbook, watch movies, go to the beach, and visit family and friends. I enjoy organizing and creating order (I guess that's why I work as an executive assistant). I love to travel and see new places.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a Mormon. All 4 of my grandparents joined the church when my parents were children. I realized as a young adult that I needed to know for myself what I believed and if this was the right religion for me. I did much studying and praying and came to the decision that indeed it was. The knowledge of Jesus Christ and what He did to enable me to live with my family forever burns in my heart as truth. I continue to live the gospel of Jesus Christ because of what He did and because of how I feel when I follow the commandments. I find that the commandments and the church guidelines help me to be a better person, a better spouse, and a better mother. When I have trials in my life I know I can turn to Jesus Christ, as He provides comfort and solace. I am truly happy.

How I live my faith

I attend church each week and I find that this provides me with a spiritual "jolt" which helps me get through the daily responsibilities of the week. I serve with the youth and help them plan activities where they can support each other, learn about themselves and accomplish goals. I teach lessons at church based on the scriptures. These lessons are enjoyable to study and prepare for as it helps me to learn more about the scriptures. As a family we work together to serve those around us. When we see a need we help. As a family we pray together regularly.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

This is one of the things that brings great peace to me. I will be able to live with my family in heaven after I die. I will be able to continue to grow in love with my husband and we will be surrounded by our children and their children. As a mother who's son died as a child this knowledge has brought so much peace to my life. Following his death I did much soul searching and praying. I needed to know for myself that this was true, that we would really be together again. I have had many quiet experiences which have brought me to the knowledge that my son lives on, beyond this earth and that we will be reunited once again. I look forward to that day and I am so grateful that I have this knowledge. That I know we will be together in heaven. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

The Bible is Holy Scripture and it is the word of God, as far as it has been translated correctly. This year I have been studying the Bible in more detail and have come to understand that I can learn things from the past that helps me in my daily life to live closer to God. I can learn from the mistakes of others. I can understand the importance of following the commandments which brings me joy and happiness. Show more Show less
