Hi I'm Brian

I'm a scientist. I'm a Mormon. And I'm at peace.

About Me

I just finished my Postdoc at Rutgers University where I continued my computer science research in special effects. Academically, I partner with major transit and entertainment facilities to improve crowd safety. I consider myself a scientist, and I love studying how groups of people behave and then modeling that with a computer. I'm married, have a son in kindergarten, a daughter at home, and a newborn. I'm deeply in love with all of them. I love being active--I survived a marathon--and I bike to work everyday. It's really exciting to see my children learning to love the outdoors, too. My wife and I love time writing funny short stories and sending them to writing competitions. Our dream vacation would be to take our family to the Puget Sound in the summer and spend weeks exploring all beauty there.

Why I am a Mormon

I've spent so much time on my knees, pleading with the Lord to know where to find the truth. Everytime I do the answer is the same--in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The first time that answer came was when I read the Book of Mormon. It came again as I pondered the story of Joseph Smith and his First Vision. I know that this church is established by Jesus Christ and that through this church we can find great joy.

How I live my faith

Jesus Christ showed us the way to live by loving everyone. I follow the Savior's example when I make my my wife and children my top priority. I live my faith when I am genuinely concerned with the students I teach and kind to my fellow researchers.

What is the First Vision?

When God calls a prophet, He appears to that person, and commands him to preach to the world. The First Vision happened in 1820 when God appeared to Joseph Smith and called him to be a prophet. Show more Show less
