Hi I'm Jennifer Christine

About Me

I have lived in Utah my whole life. I was born into a big family and I am the second youngest of 7 children. I grew up in a suburban part of Utah, but what used to be a farming community just 20 years ago. Utah is a wonderful place to live and I marvel at its beauty even though I've traveled to many parts of the western hemisphere, but because Utah is home, I admit that I may be partial to some degree. I love the heritage that comes with living in Utah and learning about the brave men and women who trekked across the great plains to follow their faith. I am descended from many of the pioneers who came to Utah and I love to hear their stories that have been handed down to me and my family. I am a single gal and I have been blessed with a wonderful family who loves me. I am a teacher and work with teenagers with severe intellectual disabilities. It's a wonderful job.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon. Growing up in the church has been truly a "blossoming" experience for me. I like to put it a little bit like this: As a child I became involved in the church, as a young woman I nurtured my fledgling testimony, and as a woman in the church I have become truly converted, even though I was baptized at the age of eight. I have become converted because of many factors, but mostly because I have developed a love for the Savior, Jesus Christ. The older I get the more I realize that I don't know very much, but I know that there is a purpose to life. Intrinsic value comes from the fact that we are all sons and daughters of God. I know this to be true. I love the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon is another testimony of Jesus Christ. It is a light given to us as the word of God and was translated by a prophet, Joseph Smith, who testified of its truthfulness until the end of his life. The Book of Mormon raises the banner of Christendom ever higher, testifying boldly of Christ and His mission that will bring happiness and joy to our lives. The Old Testament, New Testament, and Book of Mormon all testify of Christ. :)

How I live my faith

I am currently a Sunday school teacher in my ward. I was called a few months ago to teach and at first, I was extremely nervous, but I have felt the Lord calm my heart and help me feel confident in what I am doing. I have had many opportunities to serve in the church and I have to say that my favorite calling is always the one that I serve in at the time. I love visiting teaching and I know that I have benefitted from doing it more so than the women I have visited in the past. I have made many friendships from visiting teaching and love to share my testimony with the women I visit-teach as well as learning from their personal experiences and testimonies of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I have seen countless blessings from my experiences as a visiting teacher, I love it.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Jennifer Christine
Mormons celebrate holidays and worship in ways that closely mirror that of people in traditional Christian cultures. My family and I celebrate Christmas, for example, as many in America do, except we mormons emphasize the birth of the Savior rather than focusing on the more commercial aspects of the holiday. I've had many opportunities to serve others during the Christmas season and have been given opportunities through the church, my family, and my church singles group. During the Easter season, my church had a worship program that consisted of a choral productin focusing on the resurrection and atonement of Jesus Christ, which was very well done and inspired in me a greater fervor to do better in my personal life. How do I dress for church? It's usually pretty simple: a skirt, heels, and a nice blouse (with scriptures in toe, of course). I love staying in my church clothes the whole day as it reminds me that it is still the Sabbath even after dinner. Show more Show less
