Hi I'm Sherry Bugnet

About Me

After college, while working at a pizza restaurant, I met a dear friend. She was one of the happiest people I knew. No matter how difficult the day was, she never let the cranky customers or other bad things bring her down. Her outlook on life was so different than mine. I had spend the last several years of my life looking for happiness. I thought that happiness came from being with the right guy or having a great time at a party. As I watched her and the way that she didn't seem to be looking for happiness in the things I was but at the same time, had all the happiness I wanted, I finally asked her what it was that helped her get through her trials with such a good attitude. How fortunate I was that she took the time to introduce me to the missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She and the missionaries helped me understand that true happiness comes from the Lord. They changed my life. Now, 20 years later, I am have been married to my wonderful husband for time and all eternity. We have a teenaged son. I currently work as an insurance agent specializing in group benefits. In addition to my activity in the Church, I am also very active in my community and serve as the President of the local Habitat for Humanity. In every aspect of my life, I see the finger of God. He has truly taught me that happiness comes from serving him.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior. He died for me and because of this, I can return to live with my Heavenly Father again. However, I also have to do certain things in order to return to my Heavenly Father. Being Mormon gives me the ability to learn and do those things. My membership in the Church has given me so many opportunities to gain the happiness I have always wanted.

How I live my faith

I have had the opportunity to serve in several capacities in the church since becoming a member of the church. I have enjoyed teaching seminary for 4 years, being a Relief Society President, being a Young Women's President, Ward Music Chairperson and Sunday School Teacher. I love teaching. Having the ability to share my testimony through teaching gives me such satisfaction. Living the gospel each day includes staying busy by participating in as many activities as possible in the church but also giving my time and talents to my community. I know that as others watch me, they will see how the gospel makes me happy and desire to have that same happiness for themselves, like Kim and I.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Sherry Bugnet
Growing up in a different church, I was taught that I had to be a member of that church to get to heaven, however the church I was raised in did not proselyte. I knew even then that a loving Heavenly Father would have a plan to return to live with Him again and that He would want all of His children to given the opportunity to learn about Him. Mormon missionaries proselyte so that ALL of Heavenly Father's children have an opportunity to learn about Christ, to understand the Plan of Happiness and to be able to someday return to live with our loving Heavenly Father.
