Hi I'm John

I'm a musician, an electrical engineer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an avid musician who's played in a rock band on and off for over 30 years. But my real passion is designing audio gear. I am an electrical engineer by trade and am currently designing products that benefit guitar players by helping them to create new and interesting sounds. I love people and have had the chance to serve a mission for the church at the age of 19.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a small town in Idaho that was predominantly Mormon. I was raised in a large fantastic family and had great friends. At some point in my teenage years I decided that I really needed to find out for sure that this was God's church on earth and made a concerted effort to study the scriptures and pray to God and ask for a confirmation of the truth. That confirmation came in ways that are very sacred to me, but suffice it to say that my prayers were answered by a living God through the spirit of the Holy Ghost. This knowledge has helped me to live my life in a way that brings me closer to God and Jesus Christ. I know that they live. I know that Christ suffered for my sins and that I can one day live with Him again through His gift of grace and through His atonement. I am grateful to have a prophet on the earth just as in times of old and that he receives revelation to guide the church as a whole. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and find that my life has been tremendously blessed.

How I live my faith

I enjoy serving people and have served in many positions which have given me the opportunity to help those who live in my neighborhood. I have previously served as the bishop of our ward (congregation). I met often with the youth of my ward and helped guide them through the difficult teenage years. I regularly visited members of the congregation and provided spiritual guidance for them and other ward members. I received no pay for this service, but I gladly did it because I love the Lord and believe that this is what He called me to do during that time. It isn't a burden to serve the Lord. I am not a perfect person, of course, but I strive to live my life as Jesus taught and encourage others to do the same.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

John
Each person who serves a mission for the church does so voluntarily and pays for his or her own personal mission expenses with funds either earned before they go on their missions, or from funds provided by their families. There are times that their home congregation will help support a missionary when they are lacking in funds. The church provides items such as mission vehicles and administrative offices with tithing funds voluntarily donated by members of the church. Show more Show less
