Hi I'm Joel

I'm a husband and father. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a research engineer working in the automotive industry. I'm married and have two young children. I love spending time with my family and working on cars and home improvement projects.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be born into a family that has a long history in the Mormon church. My parents were faithful members of the church and taught me and my siblings by example. I love my parents and have always been impressed by their faith and character, especially through adversity. As I have gone through different periods in my life, and most recently as I have been blessed with a family of my own, I have developed my own personal witness of the truthfulness of the restored gospel. I know personally that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true. I also realize that being active in my church is important because there is so much good we can do for others. I have been blessed very much in my life and God has given me so much that i can share with others. Being Mormon means that we can help each other live the gospel. I am so impressed by my fellow church members that give so much of their time and means in serving others. I strive to be like them and share the light of the gospel with others.

How I live my faith

I regularly attend church meetings with my family here in our area. I have the opportunity to work closely with our local ward bishop as he ministers to members of our congregation. I try to set an example of living a Christ-centered life by being honest and generous with others, whether in my community or in my workplace. I am committed to my family and I know that the gospel brings us great peace and happiness. Being a good husband and father can be a challenge, but I try to put the needs of my family first. I know that there is a lot of power in family relationships, and strengthening those relationships through communication, love, and commitment represents the gospel of Jesus Christ in action. I live my faith by striving to improve myself and my family relationships, and striving to set an example of faith for others. I know that I will not be perfect in everything, but the gospel brings redemption from our mistakes and gives us the power to improve.

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

Joel
The Church does not endorse any political parties or figures. They do however, encourage members to be politically informed and to associate with political parties of their choice. We believe that many different political viewpoints are compatible with the teachings of the gospel. The Church will occasionally take an official position on moral issues that we believe to be important to the exercise of our religion and to the greater good of society. Although some may see these position as political, the Church feels they have a responsibility to speak out on important moral issues. Show more Show less

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Joel
The activities of the missionaries are funded by contributions from members of the church, in many cases from the missionaries themselves. Most missionaries or their families are expected to contribute the required costs associated with their missionary service. The money is paid to a general fund and then distributed to missionaries in different parts of the world to cover their living expenses for the duration of their assignment. The money is distributed according to local living costs, so there is no undue financial burden on those who are called to serve in places with high costs of living. Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Joel
We can begin to know our Father in Heaven by learning about Him. It is important to know that God really is our Father and has some of the same attributes as our mortal fathers. Most importantly, he loves us each individually and wants us to know Him. Praying to our Father in Heaven is the most direct way we can come to know Him, by expressing our feelings to Him, asking for answers to questions and problems we may have, and seeking conformation that He hears us. He has promised us through that He will answer our prayers as we exercise faith. Show more Show less
