Hi I'm Debra

I grew up in Washington State. I crochet and knit. I love raising my children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Elementary Education. I love children and their honesty. I get to spend my days at home with my three children, watching them learn and discover. I'm a self-taught crafter. I pick a craft and learn how to do it. So far I've learned how to quilt, crochet, knit, scrapbook, paint, cross-stitch etc. One day I will learn tatting. In my spare time I run a small at home quilting business. I love creating things!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the Gospel of Jesus Christ provides me with the support to understand and face the challenges in my life. When I am sad or upset I can turn to the Lord and find comfort through the Holy Ghost. I know that this life is just one part of my existence, this understanding allows me to face opposition and sin knowing that I am responsible for my choices: so I'd better make the right ones. I am also a Mormon because the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provides so many opportunities for service. We are asked to serve one another and service brings us closer to God. Through service we are able to touch one another's hearts in times of need and that brings us closer as a people.

How I live my faith

On Sundays, I attend a genealogy Sunday School where I work on piecing together my family tree. I sort through censuses and other primary documents to discover my ancestors, it makes me feel like a detective. This work is important to me because it allows my husband and I to take family names to the temple. Completing temple ordinances for my ancestors brings me closer to them, feeling their joy for the work I'm doing. Daily I work on coming closer to my Savior. I do this through personal scripture study and prayer. Coming closer to my Savior helps me be a better person, but more importantly a better parent. The Atonement allows me to repent and try harder everyday, I'm grateful for the improvements I make!

What is the purpose of the welfare services of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

The purpose of the welfare services of the Mormon Church is to provide for temporal needs: food, clothing, and shelter. When an individual's temporal needs are met they can focus on spiritual development. The welfare services are also for times of disaster. When great disasters occur such as hurricanes or earthquakes, the welfare services help meet the needs of the people affected. Clothing, food, and water is sent to these areas; helping the people recover from the devastation. Show more Show less
