Hi I'm Steve
I do film production. I mountain bike. I love to dance. I'm a Mormon.
I grew up in the city of Sparks, NV. Right now I'm going to school in Reno, NV and I'm majoring in Business/Marketing, although I'm looking at changing my major to Secondary Education (big jump I know!). One of my favorite things to do is film production. I've worked on amateur projects with friends and professional projects with the city. I also have recently gotten into mountain biking. I'm not the best mountain biker out there, but I love working on my bike and taking it up and down any kind of trail I can find. I also enjoy riding my bike to work. Even though I sometimes get off work late I love riding my bike home late at night while listening to my iPod while there's nobody on the road. It's incredibly therapeutic. If you haven't tried it then I definitely recommend it. I also love to dance! Whenever there is a dance being held you can count on me being there. Whether its a school dance, a church dance, or a zumba class, count me in! Any music you can dance too you can probably bet that I'll love it.
Why I am a Mormon
I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This is something I'm sure grateful for. My parents have always taught me the importance of a testimony of Jesus Christ. If I didn't have them to teach me these important and priceless truths I'm not sure where I'd be in my life. As I've gotten older I've come to realize that one day I will eventually die. That is a scary thought. Thinking that one day I wont' be on this earth anymore is terrifying. But the deeper and more mature my testimony of Jesus Christ has become, the more I've come to realize that death is not something to be afraid of. Gaining a testimony of the Atonement and Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the most important thing anybody could ever know. Realizing that because he lives we all will live again someday. There is a reason that we're here! Our loved ones that have gone are not gone forever. Just think of how important is is to know that. It all comes back to a testimony of Jesus Christ. That is why I'm a Mormon.
How I live my faith
Right now my job in the church is called the Institute Council President. The Institute program is a religion program up at the local University. Students (and anybody over 18 actually) has the opportunity to take religion classes. On top of having classes we also have activities. I am in charge of running those activities. We recently had a luau at a nearby lake. We roasted a pig, had live music, and even had dance (which you know I love!). One thing I love doing is having daily scripture study. I'm not perfect at it, but I'm striving to be. I love getting up in the morning and reading the scriptures. It is literally the best way to start the day. The days when I do I feel completely ready to take on the challenges that lie ahead of me. My family and I also have scripture study together.
