Hi I'm Laura

I am a wife. I am a homeschooler. I have a BS in Sociology and a Masters in Public Administration. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a native Californian and enjoy sunny weather, walks in our gorgeous public parks, and reading. I am the mother of four children. We are a military family - my husband is in the Navy Reserves. I love family history, vocal performers like Tony Bennett and Michael Buble (who I am listening to right now), and a well made turkey sandwich.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have studied and prayed and I know through peaceful and powerful feelings of the Spirit of God in my heart that I am in the right church and doing the right things.

How I live my faith

I live my faith simply. I pray, read my scriptures, go to church, serve in the church and treat my family very well. I strive to treat each person I meet and interact with as the valued son or daughter of God that they are. I also strive to develop my talents and gain education.

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Self-reliance and emergency preparedness are about keeping the ability to make our own choices. When faced with difficulties (financial or physical) having food, money, and skills keeps people free of desperation. It is desperation that removes freedom. At that point you have to take what you get, there is no time to research, plan, or wait until you can create the best situtation for yourself or take advantage of excellent opportunities. It really is about keeping the ability to make our own choices. Show more Show less
