Hi I'm Joel

I'm an executive for the YMCA, a husband, a father and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married with three children. I have worked for a community based non-profit organization for many years. I enjoy coaching my children's youth sports team, spending time with family, jogging, playing golf, and reading.

Why I am a Mormon

I feel fortunate to have been raised in the church. My parents both taught and set an example for me of righteous living. I will always be thankful to my parents for what they taught me. After graduating from high school I moved half way across the country to go to college. Once I was living on my own, I began to exercise my agency in regards to my level of participation in the gospel. I began to ask questions and wonder whether or not I would serve a full time mission for the church. One day, in a religion class, I felt the inspiration of the Holy Ghost as it testified to me the truthfullness of the gospel. I wasn't sure exactly what I was feeling, so when the class ended, I just sat there while everyone else left the room. After a few minutes, my professor, asked me if everything was OK. He and I had a wonderful conversation, and he helped me identify that what I was experiencing was the Holy Ghost testifying the truthfullness of the gospel principle we learned in his lecture that day. So it began at the point, I started to study, and pray on my own. More than 20 years later, my testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ continues to grow.

How I live my faith

Each day I try to serve others. I enjoy being able to do or say things that benefit those around me. As much as I enjoy being a volunteer youth sports coach, and strengthening the community through my occupation, my greatest satisfaction comes from sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with others. I have found while serving others, I am able to work through my own challenges in life with less stress. It never fails, when I spend my time helping others, I always feel good when I am finished. In our church there is never a lack of opportunities to serve. Each member has the opportunity to contribute in their local congregations.

Are Mormons Christians?

Joel
Yes, we are Christians. I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. I believe this is His church and He stands at the head of his church today, the same as He did in ancient times. Show more Show less
