Hi I'm Larry

About Me

I am first of all a family man. My wife and I have been married for over thirty years. We have five children. They are all grown and have moved away from home. We also have six grandchildren, and counting... I work as an international product mananger for an internet company, where I love to use my knowledge German and French and other European languages. My wife and I enjoy hiking in the summer and snow-shoeing in the winter. We also enjoy good books, good movies, and good music.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a home where my mother was very active in the LDS Church, and my father, who chose to leave the LDS Church, was very active in a different church. I had to decide for myself as a child what I believed. I gained my first spiritual witness that the LDS Church is true when I was baptised a few months after my eighth birthday. The Holy Ghost decended with such power upon me that I was completely overwhelmed and cried with joy for a long time. I have since had many such spiritual experiences as I have continued serving the the LDS Church and studying it doctrines, but none have been stronger that the spiritual witness I received when I was baptized. I know that Jesus Christ stands at the head of this Church and peronally directs the affairs of the Church today through modern prophets and apostles. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God, and I know that the Book of Mormon is an ancient testament of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I decided at a young age to devote my heart and soul to serving in the LDS Church, and I have had great joy, peace and satisfaction in my service. I have been a teacher of children, of youth, and of adults. I served for six years as a bishop, or the spiritual leader of my local LDS congregation. I also served for nine years as a stake president, who is the spritual leader of a group of congragations. In my case, I supervised fifteen bishops, each of whom was the leader of a local congregation. I am currently serviing as one of the spiritual leaders in the Church's Missionary Training Center, where young men and women, and also senior couples go for training to teach the Gospel as full-time missionaries. All of my Church service is voluntary, and it is done in addition to my full-time professional career. It makes for a busy life, but it is very rewarding!
